This is because there is the word change written on the bottom, and Obama’s face looking into the future, in the colors of the American flag. There is pathos in this picture, because of Obama’s emotion looking into the future, and the big word change. There is also ethos, considering that the person in this picture is Obama.

The author’s intent of this poster is to persuade the audience that they should vote for Barack Obama in the coming election. In the poster there aren't any words about voting for him, but through the one word “change” we are told that this man represents change and that we should look to him. Also by having the poster image not a photo it allows more bright colors to be used and allows it to be seen. The rhetorical appeal used for this poster is pathos. We can tell this because the one word “change” isn’t made to make you think but to feel comfort and hope from the man. The image has a light source to the of the image creating the impression that he is perhaps looking at either the sunset or sunrise. One is a symbolism for beginning and one is a symbolism for the end. Either way the audience will subconsciously see this and connect it with change. In the case of the sunrise, Obama is the new beginning. In the case of the sunset, Obama is going to change things and current things that aren’t working will end. From this we are given hope of change from Obama and are being persuaded to vote for him without any rational thinking.

It is propaganda not to program open source, or else it will be for the communists. This was done by Microsoft to not let Soviet Union gain the data. This would be Ethos, which would be showing that Microsoft is always on your side, and Communists are the enemy.

A board between the soldiers written “There is still a place in the line for YOU” suggests the purpose of this propaganda which is to enlist new members to join the army. 

I personally think this propaganda is Ethos as it’s made by the army which shows authority, and trust using the picture. The pictures stand out as if they were directly speaking to you through the use of direct language “you” and the message “This space is reserved for a fit man” which gives the reader a thought of “everyone is joining the army, I must too!”

In this picture the author wants to persuade people to donate to the Red Cross for helping soldiers who got injured in the war and need doctors to see.From the sentence which is
“Your money or his life”, I can see if people collect a fund, then it can help
soldiers because the sentence is saying “his life”. Also, as I can see from the picture, a man looks like he needs medical care otherwise he is hardly to live.Therefore, for saving him, the poster persuades people to donate to them.

I personally believe they used pathos. There is a picture of a soldier who got injured and a woman is caring for him. The audiences will have sympathy for the man. Also, there is a sentence which is “Your money or his life”. The word “you” is mentioning the audience directly
and “life” which is a heavy word will be a trigger to think about donation.
Even though people didn’t have the mind to subscribe to the war at the
beginning, the mind would be changed by being asked for your money and his life. People who can donate money are usually financially affordable, so they will think that they are able to use money for those people who are in need.
