The book has bad things that can happen to people that deal with Racism. Like Alex deals of her being half black, the word "black" always gets to her because she never thought of herself as black. Ever since she felt like she didn't fit in with her family and would always be a biracial girl who acts....white. And she probably didn't feel black enough.

It affects people because if it's the person who is feeling or being treated like that then it's a problem. They feel like they don't fit it because of their skin color and the get discriminated by that. There is a quote in the book that says, "The only reason you say that race was not an issue is because you wish it was not. We all wish it was not. But it's a lie. I came from a country where race was not an issue; I did not think myself as black and I only became black when I came to America" (Gibney 35). So this affects people a lot because wherever your from they can discriminate you from being that race.

It is important because people really need to open their eyes and see what is going on with people who are experiencing racism. People who experience this everyday can have ongoing feelings of sadness, depression, anger, and not wanting to trust others. And they can have a constant fear of others and be scared to ask for help. People don't care about this issue and just want their own kind. People who come from a different country only feel "whatever their race is" when they come to America.

One way we can solve this problem is trying to get the word out like having speeches, rallies, etc. The least people can do if they have to talk bad about someone on just the way the look or their skin color can keep it to their self. Or maybe they can do something about it like talking to someone about who might be thinking the same thing. Because honestly people have their own opinions about people who are different, and they always have to talk bad about them.
("When Is Enough Going To Be Enough?

This book is about a girl name Alex, the main character. She is a biracial girl who lives in a white family. She didn't really make it much a difference that she was black and lived with white people as long as she was special and that her baseball coach which is her father, counted on her. Now things are changing around her. She meets a boy name Reggie, he is the first black man that Alex has ever met. He wants to get to know her better and meet her family, but Alex doesn't seem comfortable introducing him to a white family. Then she discovers letters from her biological father that her adoptive parents kept from her because the letters are from years ago when she was younger, and her parents thought she wouldn't understand and this is affecting her from concentrating in baseball. Alex begins to question herself, like she always dreamed of being a pro at baseball like her father, but can she do it though? Does she fit in with her white family? Who were her biological parents? And what does it mean to be black? If she wants answers to these questions she's going to have dig deep into her adoption and find more info about her biological parents.
