"What we pay attention to grows." ~adrienne maree brown.
Story Seeds is a community story-telling project that evolved through my MFA thesis. As a community-based artist who moved to Baltimore during the pandemic, shopping and working at the 32nd St Farmers' Market has been critical to navigating my new community. On two weekends in October, I set up a stand at the 32nd St. Farmers' Market to interview community members about their own market stories to encourage reflection on their relationship to the market: Story Seeds. I asked them to plant their "seeds" somewhere. This padlet is a community garden of all the seeds that have been planted.

I planted my seed in my pickle jar, which has become my container for community. These jars were part of a summer workshop series I facilitated in which we reflected on where we come from, how we're shaped by and how we shape our surrounding communities, and how we carry our communities forward with us.

As a person who has played flute and saxophone in a jazz quintet for 25 years the pandemic destroyed my musical life. You can't play a wind instrument with a mask. So my keyboard playing friend suggested we switch to accordion and clarinet at the Waverly Market. Not only is it great fun but our tip jar money has been sent to the Maryland Food Bank.
