  • I was named after my dad's "favorite" teacher. The name was made up according to maestra Zoelia's mother (I met her and asked her)
  • I used to dislike it in middle school because my dad's teacher was the principal, but as an adult I like it :)
  • when I came to the US I kept it short, only because it was hard for most people to pronounce it. ZOE - ZOELIA
  • I like how my mom and my husband say my name. My dad does not even call me Zoelia!!! LOL

    When I was little I did not like my name because I was always the only Antonina everywhere and I think I was shy to have such a rare name... My family and friends call me Tonya (a short name for Antonina). Now, I do like my name because starts with A and sounds musical with all the vowels in it, and it's also long (4 syllables).

    People have referred to me as my last name, or my college nickname "Whitty"
    How does my name express my identity?
    I don't think my name has much to do with my identity at the moment. However, if you are given a name that is a stereotype like Chad, then you might have a different opinion.
