The Great Depression was the ultimate American crisis. If government funds had to be spent on New Deal relief efforts, all of that money should have gone towards things that solved immediate emergencies or made a lasting difference: food relief, infrastructure, economic stimulus, etc. There is no reason tax payer money should have been spent on things like art and music. Tie your opnion to evidence from course materials.

I chose this piece because it really shows just how hard people had to work back then. People back in the 20's and 30's had to work much harder for a living than people do now. This is because without all the modern equipment and machinery, things like mining for gold would be much more difficult. As you can see in this piece of artwork, the guy mining is clearly in shape and very muscular. Now if you look at a gold miner today, they would probably way less in shape and maybe chubby. This is because back in the 20's and 30's many people were struggling very hard and they need their hard earned money to go towards things that are going to benefit them. Things like art and music are not important at all in a time of struggle. It just blows my mind how in a time of such need and struggle they could take money away from food relief and the infrastructure and put it towards art and music. Art and music has only one benefit, and that is to add a little bit of enjoyment to people's lives. Unfortunately largely due to the New Deal taxpayers hard earned money was being spent on music, art projects and other unnecessary entertainment industries. This neglect towards americas needs at the time lead to the great depression ,known as the ultimate American crisis.]]> 2017-06-25 15:39:51 UTC https://padlet.com/coursematerialbackup/zw2xdxzr2yxn/wish/177376860 https://padlet.com/coursematerialbackup/zw2xdxzr2yxn/wish/177404061 The reason that decided to go with this image is because this image represents the life of a farmer or pretty much anyone who lived in a rural low-income area.  The reason I believe this image has power behind it is because it shows a typical person after what seems to be a hard days work.  Even when he gets home he still has work left to do and does it all while barely making enough money to live on.  The look on the man's face in this image tells it all in how many Americans felt during this "New Deal" period in American History.

I think that blowing money of programs that are only created for entertainment should only be allowed from government spending if necessary. The government should provide the necessary means to live to citizens over all others.
