How can I integrate different kinds of sports to reflect everyone’s unique culture in phys-ed class?

This website ranks sports based on participation and country size to have the best idea of which sports are the most popular. On top of doing some research, I think it is important to ask students in class what kinds of sports they would like to play. If there are any they played when they were back home that is different to sports played in Canada. Ex: Kabaddi in India
The resource to the left has proven very valuable for supporting ESL students that I have used before.

How can I support my exceptional students who not only have processing or sensory disabilities but are also ELL learners?

This website is a fantastic resource that I have used for my special education students. Regardless if a student is learning another language or not truly understanding what kind of support they need for their exceptionalities plays a major role in helping a student become successful.

While teaching in an ESL classroom, I noticed that depending on where the student came from is the kind of activity that they may want to do/not do.

Many of my students from China preferred not to do physical activity ex: they would not buy in to a dodge ball vocabulary game
but my majority Persian class would eat it up.

My Indian students did not play basketball/volleyball but really enjoyed wrestling because it reminded them of Kabaddi

On the other hand, I also had students who were very open to learning sports/games that they had never tried before.

Based on my past experience, research, as well as communicating with my students. I think this would be the best way to integrate sports to reflect each students unique culture. While it most likely will not reflect everyone everyday, it is useful for students to learn new games/cultural games of other people.

When you have a language barrier on top of that, it can seem even more daunting.
When students have accommodation plans put in place from their home countries, they can either be very beneficial or contradictory until the student is assessed in Ontario.
