I loved watching Coach Wood's PE videos! He is an energetic middle school PE teacher that has made weekly fun and creative videos for PE. These videos range from fun runs, dance and workout videos to sport specific skills and drills (ex: breaking down the movements for volleyball bumps, sets, spikes). He also includes DIY instructions on making your own equipment, etc (ex: agility ladder using tape and scissors). His energy and enthusiasm shine. I plan to use his videos in the future for virtual classes.

The videos provided are extremely fun and motivating for my middle school students. Coach Gelardi offers a variety of challenges: improving hand-eye coordination with "Paper Ball Wall Ball", increasing upper body strength and endurance with his "Alphabet Push-Up Challenge, and improving passing and shooting skills in hockey with the "Bottle Flip Hockey Challenge". I found his videos engaging and educational. I would love to incorporate these into my lessons.

SHAPE: Guidelines for K-12 Online Physical Education

This is a great resource that was created pre-pandemic, however I found it extremely valuable. Some practical recommendations to improve the online learning environment and instructional strategies:
- include assignments involving the whole family (get everyone involved may help keep students engaged and motivated!)
- let students choose the fitness activities they enjoy
- provide opportunities for students to design, monitor and evaluate their own physical activity and include a reflection on success and setbacks
- get outside and away from devices! Workout videos are great, but take a break.
- communicate one-on-one with students on a weekly basis, and monthly with parents
- set criteria and rubrics: use a range of assessments including HR monitors, pedometers and GPS devices.

Other great takeaways from this document included a list of tools and resources to enhance online learning, such as helpful video tips for creating instructional videos, recommended online fitness trackers, quiz generators and discussion boards.

Lastly, SHAPE shared sample lesson plans addressing each of the 5 national PE standards. These lesson plans offer valuable insight in how to overcome the challenges in delivering and evaluating these standards in a virtual environment. This will be a great resource I plan to use in the future with online learning.

OPEN is an amazing website that I have been using for several years now in teaching PE and Wellness. They continue to add new resources to their user-friendly website, and their recent addition of 'Active Home' is wonderful. A few of my favorites include their monthly 'Drop Everything and Move' calendars and fun, family-oriented games like 'Fitness Uno'. They have an all-encompassing focus on fitness, health and well-being. Lesson plans include the importance of mindfulness along with promoting 60 minutes of cardiovascular and muscular endurance and strength each day. DIY activity ideas for learning at home are offered, along with activity logs and workout video challenges. This is an invaluable resource I plan to use throughout my teaching career.

Coach Wood did a great job of doing my favorite thing to demonstrate. He showed the "what not to do". This is hugely important when creating video content because, it provides some comic relief but it also makes the students more aware of their body while encouraging correct form. He was well heard in the video and acted as himself hat his students are accustomed to.

Dot Race Fitness was unique. At first I was note sure how I felt about it, then as the minutes ticked by, I began to see the usefulness of his videos. I could see younger students liking the activity and game aspects of his delivery style.

Coach Nutt has useful tips for creating an active game and using basic household items. Paper towels and rolled up socks. Her directions, while wordy and time consuming, were basic and clear.

they all would target a specific audience and learning style.

The slideshow from PE E-learn had me thinking. While not every activity is relevant, it started the thinking process. Just like a spark plug, the ideas sparked a though and I was able to make a list of how I could develop a game for my own purposes. For example rock paper scissors, we could do a breakout room and play that game, change the exercises to the body part we are studying, etc.

I liked the You Tube videos and thought they gave a lot of great, interactive ideas for students. While last year I taught FCS and Health, this coming year I will be teaching Health and 1 PE class. I immediately thought the video's would make it more interesting for students. I also plan to use interactive videos for Health and FCS subjects. Also when looking at the guidelines for k-12 PE, I know those are available for Health and will be useful as well.

Coach Gelardi was one of my go to resource's while teaching remotely. In many cases he took items available in homes that could be turned into PE equipment. The volleyball sit up challenge took a tried and true PE activity and added a fitness component, his paper wall ball allowed students to work on strength and endurance while having fun with a homemade item. I thought he tapped into student and teacher creativity with everyday items making fitness available no matter what circumstances students were in.

I absolutely LOVE Coach Giraldi and Mike Morris. I used tons of their videos with my remote learners over the past year and would highly recommend! Their videos of are full of mini tasks that students can do at home using household resources such as paper balls, paper plates, paper towel tubes, stuffed animals, laundry baskets, etc. There is some goal-setting in some of the videos too to help students be accountable!

What I liked about both Coach Wood and Mallory Nutt is they stayed with the workout and their videos were the appropriate length to provide students with the guidance and motiviation to keep doing the activity until the end. Others were good, but I did not think the format of demonstrating and then sending students off to do the activity on their own would be as effective. The other aspect I liked about these two educators was their energy and enthusiasm. They both displayed a geniune passion for what they were doing which can be totally contagious in a positive way. I also liked Coach Gelardi for his PE Challenges as he provides a clear goal and makes the activity both fun and challenging. I'll plan on incorporting several of these activities in-person as well as keeping them available if we ever go back remote (let's hope not). These can also be great to keep available for snow days (we have a Blizzard Bag option in our district) or make available for a time if I'm ever out and have a substitute.
Dan Heeter

I loved how creative the teachers were with making their videos fun and interactive. Ben Pirillo was so creative with his video game graphics, and I thought his Harry Potter run was hilarious! I liked how many of the teachers like Coach Nellems, Derek Zachary, Mike Morris, and Peter Connell all used items from home to practice basic skills and create fun skill challenges. I think my favorite skill challenge was the "Ping Pong Poo" challenge created by Peter Connell. I liked how all of the teachers took the fun essence of PE and brought into the home environment. The equipment went from tradional balls to socks and stuffed animals. I liked Derek Zachary's homemade raquets with coat hangers and pantyhose! I also thought the Open PhysEd resourses to be very helpful. I liked the format of the fitness elements and the skill challenges in each lesson. I also liked how they used darebee.com resources, which I used a lot of with creating circuit training for my students.

Something my students were used to doing in class, and I was able to provide that again during remote learning
OPEN is one of the sources I use ALL the time. I use their awesome lessons as a building block to what I teach my students. Their at-home lessons were so helpful at finding a good middle ground for what students had at home or wouldn't have at home. A lot of the other videos on our table are some really great sources, I feel like I used a lot of these over the last year.

I personally utilized many of the resources listed throughout remote learning. Some of my go-to's included PE Bowman, PE Depot (Mike Grinola), US OPEN, Kevin Tillerman (Physedreview), Dan Batty, Mike Morris, Ben Prillo, etc. I found my students really enjoyed the active gaming aspect of some of the youtube videos. I enjoyed using a variety of resources to help provide students with choices and used a lot of these resources for either warm-up or as inspiration to create my own challenges for students.
