Explain: Escapism is the art of escaping, Different people have different types of escape that they would follow through. By the way, people escape we could subtly know what kind of person they are, the way we escape tell us who we are. Escaping is not limited to how you know stereotypically like Ninjas escaping from the enemy grasp, Escaping can be explained as you trying to run from something it could be stress, responsibilities, work, etc. The different ways of how people escape from stress can define who they are. An as a different way of escaping hide the motive of the individual, some would smoke some would just sleep. It relates to our mentality.
Apply: In real life, whenever I feel stress I would sleep or listen to music something like metal to release my stress, as I found out that when I listen to music I was able to release my built-up anger and stress. Others would release stress by playing instruments, talking to friends, etc. Some would go to the movies, some would choose to experience a much more negative way such as Smoking and drinking, this is something that Tom in the Glass menagerie does when he feels stress. He would go to the fire escape to smoke and sometimes he goes to drink with co-workers or others while he also watches movies. Meanwhile, Laura would often go to the park to escape her business school or go home and clean the glass menegerie.

(Explain): Escapism tells us about how we live our life, whether we live our lives in a good or bad way. If you escape from reality using a grim method like drinking, smoking, doing drugs, then it can tell you that we are an unhealthy person and a drug addict. If you escape from stress from watching movies, sleep, listening to music then you are pretty normal for a person. Another thing is if you escape by wanting to be praised or be rewarded then it might say that you are a needy person who wants something. Like in the play "The Glass Menagerie", focusing on the character Tom, it tells us about how we uses escapism to relieve stress by going to the movies, smoking, drinking, going on an adventure. Not what he all does is bad and not all of it is good, so he is more on the neutral side of things, not a bad nor a good way to release stress.
(Apply): An example in real life, is going to the movies to watch the shows that calm you down because some shows can make you stressed out even more like horror films and gore films that raises your tension. Drinking alcohol is also a solution to escapism due to it calming you down, and help release stress. Some other people also finds exercising release stress as well, especially when exercising with others and having to converse with them. Talking to others is also a prime example of escapism as well, by letting out your true feelings you are telling yourself to let it all go and telling the other person to feel your pain as well.

TQ: How does escapism make us who we are?
In life, you'll stumble upon problems over problems, stresses and so much more frustrations. Sometimes, you're able to face it head on and sometimes the only thing you can do is to distract yourself with other activities just so you'd stay sane. This is what we called escapism: to leave or avoid what's bothering you in life, for the sake of your mental health. Escapism can be positive and negative. Some form of escapism benefits you in the future. For example: pursuing one's true passion that can potentially take them somewhere in life. While some other forms of escapism are the meaning of self sabotaging and some of these include: drinking, smoking cigarettes, self harm activities, or any other bad influences. Through escapism, we discover our likings and our enemies. The more you go through escapism, the more you experience, thus this journey sticks with you and whatever you become used to, starts to define who you are. Like they said, "You get influenced by the people you hang around", it works the same for escapism. If you continue to stick with your new good hobbies, it'll slowly find its way on your list while if you stick with the bad ones, you're bound to put your identity through those bad names.

Apply:
TQ: What are some examples from real life or TGM?
Talking from personal experience, I've had my fair share of bad examples of escapism and good examples. One of the bad examples that really put a toll on me is stress eating. Whenever I feel stressed or unhappy, I turn to food. It was as if, "If I can fill my tummy, I'll be happy". This resulted in weight gains, which further affected my mental health and brought me to hate myself inside and out. It took me a long long while to finally start loving myself again. I got so used to it to the point it was terribly difficult to break out of that habit no matter how hard I tried or hated myself for it. As for a good example, that would be daydreaming and seeking the positives in a bad situation. What I like to do now whenever I face an obstacle is I take a moment to sit down and try to block out the bad parts of that situation and focus on the positives left in the world. In a way, it was a form of empowerment and inspiring myself to keep hustling through the on going storm. Daydreaming is my favorite form of escapism. In a world full of harsh realities, at times it's amazing to just imagine what a perfect life would look like for you in your head. The more you envision that scenario in your head, the more you strive to get there. Your mindset is the starting foundation of a beautiful life.

Escapism is one of the way to get you out from the reality for a while in order to come up with better solution for life. Everyone has problem and every struggle should solve in different way depend on how you handle it. However, the same point that problem have in similar is it giving the stress to you. We can’t stop stress but the best way is to escape it and of course, we human have different techniques base on our characteristics because in order to escape the stress, you need to know what you like and what make you happy so you will be able escape for a period of time which lead to a good mental health. As people have their own habit such as some people would prefer listening music, drinking, sleep, watching movie.etc. These activities are part of escaping but it can be anything that make you feel relief. That’s why escapism really show who you are because the process of escape from something is really importance which it need a truth about yourself so that you could find a right way to escape it without knowing yourself, it impossible for you to escape from stress. For instance: your friend watching movie to release stress then you have a try but it doesn’t turn out as you expected. So that’s mean it would fit with other but not you.

The way that escapism makes us who we are is how it represents our life struggle and how we try to get rid of it. Imagine a person who is suffering from mental health, there is controlling them, but somehow the person is not what we think it is. The person might also try to speak out of how they try to get rid of the mental disorder that is affecting their brain, while they're in a bad condition. This explanation could also be related to the play called "Tennessee William" The Glass Menageries by a role player name Tom. Tom hated his job because it's stressful for him. But he got to do it just to keep his family financially stable. Tom is the only person in the family who is working from time to time. So all and all, escapism make us who we are by how we determine our struggle because knowing our struggle means we know what we're dealing with.

Tom is the only family income source and he carry all the pressure to work.

TQ:How does escapism make us who we are? (explain) What are examples from real life or TGM?

Sometimes in life, we might enter one of those moment of hardship, stress, or down just because of the situation you are facing that make yourself out of control which could lead to unstable life. However, there is a way to help us release all those stress and conflict through escapism and the question goes: How does escapism make us who we are? Escapism is a way to seek out form stress, distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, through seeking for entertainment or engaging in fantasy. The concept of escapism is about shaping who we are through knowing ourselves. By knowing ourselves, i mean that you are able to know your weakness and strength in escaping some of the situation that put you into stress. From time to time it will allowed you to become a better person who are able to control yourself over thinking about your escapism. As example, we could see a character from The Glass of Menageries named Tom Wingfield, he is the son of Amanda Wingfield; after all the stress and the pressure he receive being the brother of the house which also present as the father of his sister. Tom find many hard relationship with his mother because she were nagging too much while he is working hard, that make Tom trying to escape through going to get drunk at a bar. This shows how escapism shape Tom Wingfield as a bad brother, as a drinker who his mother and the society wouldn’t like him to be from his escapism.

Escapism is the constant need to be distracted from the situation or your own virtual scape. Sometimes people tend to rely on this due to the fact it eases our worries and lessen our problems as we go along in life. However this does not always work for everybody and for a good reason, in fact, Our tendencies to always run away from our problems are what makes it even harder in the first place as we go through our lifestyles, jobs and relationship, We tend to forgot that these things are bound to have problems at some points in our life and Without accepting it as it and to accept that nothing is perfect and things are flawed, we could easily fall into a trap that would set of our insecurities, fears and anxiety to deepest end of our lives. This doesn't mean that Escapism is bad, In fact, It is the opposite. Escapism can be really useful in self healing especially with people who are dealing with extreme PTSD and if you just want to take your mind of things like when you are coming from a breakup or you lost someone close to you then of course it is entirely logical, however, I think that the whole process of escapism is jut for us to take our time and ease our worries a bit when we are in a state of shock, but eventually we must all come to terms with our own problems and deal with it on our own, So that we can learn from our mistakes and inability to do anything, but most importantly ourselves and that everything is passed. Things of the past should stayed in the past and we should all divert that energy into helping what we got now and what we could do in the future instead which is what the character Amanda is lacking in the story of The Glass Menagerie. Amanda show signs of escapism as she would always try to tell stories and reminiscing of the good old days that she and the family used to have which is okay if you are only doing it once or twice, But she does this all the time to the point that it is quite annoying. She would always talk about her husband and how great everything was, but without considering the situation that the family is in right now especially for Tommy and Laura and by saying these things, in turn would only help to backfired instead because it will always be a constant reminder of how bad and miserable they have gotten now which is what Amanda should focus on instead. This means that escapism also help us in identifying ourselves as well because it is also a sign that would hugely described our personality as a whole. If we were to look at a person who tend to tell stories about her past like Amanda, this would mean that she is really distant from what is actually going on in her own life right now and we could also tell that when face with difficult situations, these types of people would most definitely tried to look for a way out or a way to cope as soon as possible without much consideration and thinking meaning that they can be swayed and persuaded easily. This means that we most likely viewed escapism as more of a bad thing that good like it is a form of weakness or the person have a really weak mind set or mental capacity but honestly I just think that they need help.

(explanation): escapism is the tendency to seek distraction and relief from unpleasant realities, especially by seeking entertainment or engaging in fantasy. Some people like to rely on this to escape the harsh reality and depressed such as schoolwork, work or there true life which could be the cause of bullying, abusive parents or even from an event that the individual do not like. some people could go along with the problem with it but some people are not able to do the same as the other. they tend to run away from the problem and that is what make the problem harder and harder for the person. there are things that are bound to happen when we are doing something, it could be from working on a relationship, a jobs, a school. If the person would run from the problem again and again. it would make the problem become worst and worst and it would cause them that could come and haunt them one day. but that does not mean that escapism is a bad thing to do. it is very helpful towards people who is experiencing ptsd, which is a psychiatric disorder that may occur in people who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event such as a natural disaster, a serious accident, a terrorist act, war/combat, or rape or who have been threatened with death, sexual violence or serious injury. in the story the Glass Menageries. Amanda which is the mother of Laura and Tom. Amanda show signs of escapism as she would always try to tell stories and reminiscing of the good old days that she and the family used to have. This have been used by a lot of people and it's alright alright if we used it sometimes. but in the case of Amanda, she uses it almost all the times and in the situation that tom and Laura were in, it did not help the other individual but instead make it even harder for them regarding the situation they were in .his would mean that she is really distant from what is actually going on in her own life right now and we could also tell that when face with difficult situations, these types of people would most definitely tried to look for a way out or a way to cope as soon as possible without much consideration and thinking about it thoroughly. this show that I look at escapism as a bad thing. but instead No, I do not hate people who try to escape from their problem but I also do not agree with them. So I am in between it which is neutral.

(Explanation) Our action, attitude and the way we act has define us who we are. But escapism is one of the actions that include in our behavior which is also a part of our lives that we all had faced. Sometime we would wonder things that going on around us such a problems, troubles, issue and conflict so to avoid from these things maybe we could find something that might change our mind which can turn into a positive actions such as playing sport, listen to music, do what we love to do, and mediation. There are many ways to escape from these difficult situations, therefore some people might doing things like drugs, smoke cigarettes, drinking alcohol, etc... Getting out from troubles, and different problems is an example of escapism, which we are able to release out the stress, and to have a good mental health problems. Each one of us had suffer mental disorder like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, etc... so as we escape from those disorder it would define as who we are, by understanding ourselves clearly and know what's our mind thinking. Based on The Glass of Menagerie, the character Tom had showed that he escape from stress by smoking and go to the movie to enjoy what he likes to do. Tom was working very hard and having too much pressure. Amanda which is his mother was nagging too much about him, so this appears that to release out some stress and to calm himself down, he used to smoke and drink until he get drunk.

( Explain ): Escapism is the avoidance of reality by absorption of the mind in entertainment. Escapism is also the essential things for us because it's allow to have a moment to taking care of yourself or to take a break and not to overthinking of something. Meditation it's also the keys to make us happy, having hope, and remain cautious of what you're doing. In some of situation, we can't really just take a few minutes or so to overcome it, it must take some time in order to solve the problem. For instance, when you're a manager of that company and there are a lots of things just like problem you have with the clients and some of your crew members are having trouble with their jobs. So, that you have to be extremely having difficult times on this your brain need some time to relax in order to overcome this problem. Within this point, you have to take a moment and practicing escapism and do other activities just like listen to music, practice yoga, chant, daydream, visit a place where you thing you can relax yourself ( beach, mall, shopping, adventure, etc...) So, that you can release stress and you start to learn from yourself more and more during this time. Also, those activities might also helpful for you because you can avoid from other people, avoid from the emotions which make you feel stressful.
