The Mennonites were a Christian denomination from areas in central Europe were they mostly spoke German and Dutch. The Mennonites were a group anti-racists and people who fought against the racist ideas of people during the 16th and 17 century and circulated the first piece of writing that was antiracist in colonial America. The piece of writing they were circulating was the 1688 Germantown Petition, which was a petition against slavery. Sadly, because of the antiracist efforts from the Mennonites were disrupting the racist ideas, slave holders were shutting their talk down to protect slavery for their own benefit. So, during the 16th and early 17th century, orthodox authorities started to kill off Mennonites to get rid of their antiracist ideas and preserve the slavery at the time.

Fedrick Douglas was a black man and an antiracist. Fedrick Douglas was born into slavery but eventually escaped. He used his story of escape to show how slavery was a terrible thing and why it needs to be so desperately stopped. He wrote books focused on topics of antiracist and challenged the racist beliefs of America. He showed that black people were as capable as white people were in what they could do and even worked with William Loyd Garrison. He spoke out about not just the ending of slavery, but the end of racism in America entirely.

William Loyd Garrison was a white antiracist who disliked the thought of racism. In 1831, he started a newspaper, which was used to send messages of anti-slavery throughout the nation and influence antiracist thoughts. William wanted full equality for Black people in America and worked with Black leaders. He helped found and became a leader of the American Anti-Slavery Society. He went against racist thought and believed in and fought for emancipation for Black people.

Jack Johnson was a black man and an antiracist. Jack Johnson was the first black man in the sport of boxing to win the world heavyweight boxing title in 1908. Jack didn't act the way that white people wanted him to, and because of this, white racist people hated him. Jack Johnson quietly used his fame to fight against racism in America by showing how black people are capable of great things and how they can compete with white people, he used his fame as an example of proof to prove the antiracist thought of this. Jack broke the social norms of how black people were meant to act according to the white racist thoughts around at the time and he was seen as a symbol of resistance and strength for Black Americans and antiracists at the time.

David Walker was a free black man and an antiracist. He wrote a letter to America in 1829 that explained how slavery had to end immediately. He encouraged Black people to stand up for themselves and fight back against the racism in the country and against the continuation of slavery. Of course, America didn't like the influence he was causing in antiracist thought so his writing was banned.

What are the challenges that modern day antiracists are dealing with?

To this day, antiracist still deal with many problems. One of the big problems antiracist deal with is the public backlash antiracist might get when trying to state their opinions on certain topics that are related to their beliefs. This is a problem because even though racism is not as bad as it was a while ago, it still exists and can try to counter antiracist today, hindering their attempts of spreading antiracist thought. Another problem antiracists deal with today is the problem of not being heard, sometimes antiracist might not be able to get their opinions out due to not being able to. Whether that's being suppressed, not having a way of speaking out, or being overshadowed and not being took seriously.

What impact will the loss of policies have on the people in our communities?

The impact of the loss of policies on the community would be huge. If we lost policies like DEI, it would mean many minority groups would struggle in the workforce. The DEI allows people of diverse backgrounds to be able to work fairly among other people with no discrimination towards them in any way. Losing this would crumble communities and businesses that have a diverse group of people in them.

Do you think there are enough advocates for equality to keep this fight going?

I think there is enough advocates for equality to keep this fight going for equality going. There are many people who believe in equality, and many powerful, influential, and high-status people who actively fight for equality. It's not just people, but many originations also still actively fight for equality and a lot of them are big well-known organizations that are only going to keep growing. Many laws and policies are put in place to also keep equality relevant. With all of this, yes, there are definitely enough advocates to keep the fight for equality going.
