Promotion of Our City
Mersin is an incredible cultural melting pot. Saint Paulus, the first Apostle of Christ, was born in Tarsus which is 25 km to Mersin. Tarsus has inherited a cultural heritage accumulated in 6 thousand years. Archaeological excavations carried out in Yumuktepe tumulus, located at the center of Mersin, have shown that the city was first built 9 thousand years ago. Silifke city, founded by Selefkos Nikator, one of the commanders of Alexander the Great, is preparing for its celebrating its 2300th anniversary. Around 100 ancient cities scattered around Silifke feature the unique heritage of the Greek, Roman and Byzantian civilizations which we can discover together. In addition to these, Antakya, the city of Saint Pierre where you can reach after a 3-hour drive, and Cappadocia, the city of earth pillars in a 4-hour driving distance, are among other tourist attractions which should not be missed.
Ecological Tourism:
Silifke Goksu Delta and Tarsus Berdan River Salt Lake Delta are wetlands which are protected under international agreements. If you are interested in these bird heavens and turtle breeding places you can join a photo safari at any time suiting to your travel plans.
Water Sports and Rafting:
Rafting tours are organized in Koprucay under supervision of experienced guides and instructors at every weekend from May to September.
Convention Tourism:
Many small and larger halls in our city have hosted international and national gatherings. Our hotels have an adequate capacity.
This is a large pit which came into being when the ceiling collapsed as a result of chemical erosion caused by an underground creek. It is said that the cave which is located at the bottom of the initial subsidence and is one of these natural wonders known as the “Corycian Caves” in the ancient ages was the home of the Monster Typhon. At the entrance of the cave, there is a small church which a pious man named Paulus caused to be built. One goes down the subsidence of Heaven by a stair of 452 steps each of which is quite wide. There are 300 steps to the church. After the church, one hears the sound of a mythological underground creek at the point where the cave ends. The pit of Hell which is 75 metres ahead of the subsidence of Heaven came into being in a similar way. The pit of Hell looks awe-inspiring. Rumour has it that sinners and criminals were thrown into this pit in the past. It is recounted that Typhon, who was “the giant of giants” in mythology and who destroyed every place through which he went, was confined here. The Cave of Dilek and Asthma which is located 18 metres under the ground is in the vicinity.

Our students in the robotic teams are 11-14 year old students.

My City,
Istanbul formerly known as Byzantium and Constantinople, is the most populous city in Turkey and the country's economic, cultural and historic center. Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, straddling the Bosporus strait (which separates Europe and Asia) between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. Its commercial and historical center lies on the European side and about a third of its population lives in suburbs on the Asian side of the Bosporus. With a total population of around fifteen million residents in its metropolitan area, Istanbul is one of the world's largest cities by population, ranking as the world's fifteenth-largest city and the largest city in Europe. The city is the administrative centre of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality

Founded under the name of Byzantion on the site of an earlier Thracian settlement around 660 BCE, the city grew in size and influence, becoming one of the most important cities in history. After its reestablishment as Constantinople in 330 CE, it served as an imperial capital for almost sixteen centuries, during the Roman/Byzantine (330–1204), Latin (1204–1261), Byzantine (1261–1453) and Ottoman (1453–1922) empires. It was instrumental in the advancement of Christianity during Roman and Byzantine times, before the Ottomans conquered the city in 1453 CE and transformed it into an Islamic stronghold and the seat of the Ottoman Caliphate. Under the name Constantinople it was the Ottoman capital until 1923. The capital was then moved to Ankara and the city was renamed Istanbul.

The city held the strategic position between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. It was also on the historic Silk Road.It controlled rail networks between the Balkans and the Middle East and was the only sea route between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean. In 1923, after the Turkish War of Independence, Ankara was chosen as the new Turkish capital, and the city's name was changed to Istanbul. Nevertheless, the city maintained its prominence in geopolitical and cultural affairs. The population of the city has increased tenfold since the 1950s, as migrants from across Anatolia have moved in and city limits have expanded to accommodate them. Arts, music, film, and cultural festivals were established towards the end of the 20th century and continue to be hosted by the city today. Infrastructure improvements have produced a complex transportation network in the city.
Over 12 million foreign visitors came to Istanbul in 2015, five years after it was named a European Capital of Culture, making the city the world's fifth-most popular tourist destination. The city's biggest attraction is its historic center, partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its cultural and entertainment hub is across the city's natural harbor, the Golden Horn, in the Beyoğlu district. Considered an Alpha - global city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network, it hosts the headquarters of many Turkish companies and media outlets and accounts for more than a quarter of the country's gross domestic product. Hoping to capitalize on its revitalization and rapid expansion, Istanbul has bid for the Summer Olympics five times in twenty years.

Although people have lived since 6000 years, history has not written anything about the identity of the first living people. After Alexander the Great died sick at the age of 33, he had no children and fought for the land he left his 3 Generals and shared the empire lands among them. In this sharing, a part of Syria and Anatolia fell to Selefkos Nikador including Silifke. Selefkos Nikador founded the Selefkiya (Silifke), which he named after the people of Ağa (Holmi) Port, which is located in Taşucu, following today's Silifke. Although Selefkos Nikador established four cities of Silifke in different places in his name, today only Silifke remains standing. İ.Ö. After the death of Seleucus Nikador by an enemy with a dagger in 280, Silifke was ruled by people of Seleucid lineage.
In the meantime, when Silifke was conquered by the Egyptians, the Seleucids III. After expanding his lands from Syria to Thrace, Antiochus III decided to strike against Rome by making an agreement with the Carthaginian King Annibal in Ephesus. BC with the Romans. When he was defeated in the battle he made in the Manisa Plain in 189, he leaves the North of the Taurus Mountains to the Romans. He promises not to retreat to Silifke and take his ships out between the mouth of the Göksu River and Cape Incekum.
III. When Antiochus began to use gold from the temples due to the financial crisis, he was killed by the people. His son, Selefkos Filipator, who succeeded him, was also killed by his vizier. They call Tigran to head the administration. The last Seleucian King Pilapos opposes the Armenian King, but is defeated and then killed. His successor II. Pilopos does not hide somewhere and appear. In the meantime, the Armenian king Tigran came so far and burned Viransehir. Thereupon, the Selefkos are divided into two as Silifke and Antakya. The Seleucids of Silifke, who could not bear the sheer amount of taxes, seized the palace and set it on fire. They are burning the city of Silifke. On the same date, when the Syrian Seleucids surrendered to the Armenian King, the Seleucids of Silifke also recognized the Armenian King. (84 BC)
Although various people from the Seleucids living elsewhere want to come to Silifke and want to be the King, the Seleucids of Silifke do not give this opportunity and fire every visitor.
Due to the administrative gap in the region, the surroundings of Silifke turn into a pirate bed. Pirates who hit ships carrying wheat to Rome in the Mediterranean take shelter in Silifke bays, and when they get stuck, they leave their ships in the bays and flee to the Taurus Mountains.
In order to prevent the pirate dangers in the Mediterranean and to open the wheat road to Rome, BC.
