The narrator tells the story from the point of view of her past child self because when she is an adult her perspective of the world changes. To effectively convey how the world seems to a child, the narrator told the story from the point of view of a child. The prose is about the narrator’s childhood so if she told it in the point of view of her adult self it enables her to twist her childhood in such a way that her childhood would be better than what she actually lived through.

Patricia & Ter Xin Yi

The point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose as paragraphs 3 to 10 of the prose is about the narrator’s childhood, and by putting the prose in the point of view of the narrator, it gives us readers a more personal look into how the narrator’s childhood was like. We can see from the narrator’s eyes her view of her childhood and the people in it, such as her parents, friends and Peter. Putting the narrator’s point of view in the prose is effective in allowing readers to go further into the life of the narrator as it shows us what she thought like and felt like as a child.

It is significant as we get to know her childhood through her own eyes and how she felt and pictured her memories. This can be seen from how she writes about her thoughts on a urinal when she was young, "The first time I saw a urinal, I couldn't understand how anyone could sit on it to pee." This line shows how significant her point of view as no one else would have known what she was thinking at that moment except for herself and we the readers wouldn't know the full picture if she wasn't the one narrating. Therefore, the point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose.

the point of view of the narrator is in first person as she tells the story through a flashback.
this is firstly significant beacuse we, the readers, get to step into the speaker's shoes. Which means that we get to indulge deeper into her memories and get a more direct feel of her actual experience, thus enhancing out understanding of her story and the reliability of the information.
Secondly, the narrator relaying her childhood story in first person, flashback form is critical as it further amplifies the intensity of the story. The narrator doesnt simply speak of her experiences as they are firmly in the past. instead she relives it as she places us in her 12 year old self's shoes ensuring that it is a very personal recount

The point of view of the character is significant to the prose as it makes a prose feel more realistic and personal and allows the reader to be more engaged with the story. This realism can be seen from when the writer describe Peter's paper folding skills with detail, showing us how she admires him for the skill for her being able to notice and appreciate the details of what he creates. Having the thoughts of the character involved in recounting an incident allows for the story to get personal and let's the reader feel like the character in the story is telling them a story rather than feel like just the reader looking at a bunch of words on a page. Therefore, having the character's point of view is significant to the prose for it impact on the reader for its personalisation and realism

The point of view of the narrator is significant as it gives an insight to how the narrator's life is like and shows how the narrator sees her growing years. This is significant to the story as it shows us what her feelings and thoughts are on her very own life and how much she changed from when she was a child to when she grows up to be an adult . The significance of her point of view can be seen from “The first time I saw a urinal,I couldn't understand how anyone could sit on it to pee” ,this tells us her first hand thoughts when she saw something for the first time which is unique because nobody else can know what her thought process was when she saw the urinal for the first time as a child . This shows us how the narrator viewed things when she was a child and what are her thoughts on it when she grows up.hence the narrator's point of view is significant to the prose .

The point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose as it brings the readers back with her down her memory lane, when she was still a child. The first paragraph was said during the current time she was in, looking at the ivory carving in the store. She continues the rest of the prose in the perspective of her as a child, which makes the readers picture the scenes in the prose during her childhood days, where she was not as knowledgeable and matured. Readers will better understand the mental process of the speaker as a child and they will feel more connected to the scene because of the choice of words and the way the sentences structured which are that of what a child would think and say. Thus, the point of view of the narrator is significant in the prose. <mar and cy>

The point of view of the narrator is significant as she talking about her life specifically her childhood and how she was like when she was young. Through this prose, we get to know more about the narrator herself who is also the protagonist of the story. Having the protagonist herself narrating her thoughts when she was a child, we get the full experience as though we are living through her stories. The protagonist was curious about the urinal and how anyone could even use it. By getting the protagonist to narrate the story, we get the whole picture of how she felt and thought, like for example discovering new things like the time she was exposed to an urinal which she thought was weird.

The point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose because she wrote the passage in the point of view of when she was a child and she wanted to show the significance of the branch and apples. The narrator wanted to recall what happened during her childhood and this shows us her character and personality when she was young.the passage shows her thoughts when she was younger and this helps us to understand the passage better.

It is significant as the story is told in a way that it shows that the story is personal and the narrator's own childhood experience. This makes the story more believable and allows the reader to know what the narrator was thinking and feeling at that time which allows the reader to look at the world from her eyes. This lets the reader empathize with the main character and understand why the main character did certain things in a certain way. In addition, it lets the readers feel the things the narrator felt through her gains and losses like when she says that "an apple went missing" when she was 12 which is unusual with normal children as a child would not remember something as common as an apple going missing.

The Narrator's POV is significant to the prose as it reveals the persona's experience directly through narration. It tells a more a personal story, with information and contextual knowledge being limited to what the persona sees, feel, smell, hear, speak, etc. In the prose, the author said "my hair was very short and many people mistook me for a boy." Allows the reader to empathise with her as the incident is narrated to the reader directly and allows the incident to feel more real like rather than exaggerated when conveyed through another medium such as third person or a story. Because of the First Person POV, the narrator is able to express her emotions and thoughts to the reader more clearly rather than using actions or speech to convey it. One such example will be when the narrator said "I was okay too when nobody told me where they were all going.". Also, through first person POV, the environment will feel much more detailed to the reader and allow the reader to feel much more immersed. Therefore, the POV is significant to the prose as it allows the narrator to convey her experience much more easy.

The point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose as it is written at the point of view of a child telling us about her own childhood. As readers,we also get to experience her childhood while she is narrating it and we get to hear her thoughts and feelings about each situation she is in at that point of time in the prose. Instead,if she had used the point of view as an adult,we would not be able to understand the narrator as well as as a child,we would not be able to understand how she felt as a child and accurately understand her thoughts as an adult looking back on her childhood and the feelings she flet at the time might not be accurately recalled back as an adult.Hence, the narrator's point of view as a child is significant.

It is significant as it allows the readers to get a clearer glimpse into her childhood, which includes her experiences, thus the feelings and thoughts of the narrator is more accurately displayed. There would be a difference in perspective and thoughts if the story was told when the speaker is older and more mature, as a result of the additional experiences she would have gone through growing up. The speaker told her story as a child, so that her present thoughts do not interfere or affect how she used to think as a child in her story. This is seen in how the speaker constantly recalled situations where she seemed naive and gullible, being young at that time after all, as shown in,”The first time I saw a urinal, I couldn’t understand how anyone could sit on it to pee.” Hence, telling her story in a child’s point of view is significant to the prose.

The point of view of the narrator is significant as it makes readers empathize with the narrator's childhood. By reading the prose in the point of view of the narrator, the reader can understand the feelings of the narrator and relive her childhood as if the reader was at the time of the event. "That was the year my period began and I started to wear a singlet under my school blouse" is significant as it is something personal and she would keep to herself. A first person narration gives readers a better insight of the events that had occured during her childhood. A third person narration would not be able to include personal feelings and experiences as it not felt by the narrator him/herself. Therefore, the point of view of the narrator is significant to the prose as it allows readers to get a deeper understanding of the narrator's childhood.
