It mentioned how gen Z is a smart and very diverse group of amazingly expressive people. One trait they specifically mention is that gen Z is an inclusive and fluid group that tries to connect people. The article also mentioned some traits of TikTok that make it appealing such as being high-energized and deeply engaging due to its simple complexity. This relates to the group of gen z who are also simple but complex. The one thing that stands out is TikTok's openness to self-expression and creativity. This is also a trait of many people who are considered to be gen z. The article related gen z and TikTok and how they are similar and build off of each other.

TikTok has helped much of Gen Z stay up to date on politics and gotten more people to band together to make a change. Gen Z has been more willing to participate in making social change by interacting with others and getting their words out there on TikTok in order to show that there's power in numbers and that they can make a difference.

TikTok is Shaping Politics

TikTok is a platform that uniquely connects people with similar interests, largely through the use of hashtags. In doing so, TikTok has united people and allowed them to spread their beliefs and organize themselves. An example of this is people reserving the tickets for a Trump rally, causing there to be a near empty stadium. This platforms allows people to share their views and to connect with others of similar views. This has caused younger people to become more involved in politics than they have in the past, causing this newest generation to be one of activism.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/28/style/tiktok-teen-politics-gen-z.html

They also provide multiple organizations that have used TikTok to grow their audience and raise awareness around specific causes.

Multiple nonprofits have an online presence on Tiktok, using it to raise awareness and, in some cases, funds for the organizations. Some have been seen using viral songs, showing and inspirational, and in some cases cute, videos of their beneficiaries, and/or using text tools to add more information that is cohesive to the non-profit's message. Others, such as the American Heart Association, have started dance trends including their "Keep the Beat" challenge as a way to spread awareness or shed light on a topic that may not be as clear to the general public.

The platform TikTok promotes not only videos for entertainment but videos with prominent messages on the problems our society faces. Three-fourths of Generation Z educated themselves of topics like social justice through TikTok. Many brands like JanSport and Chipotle use the platform to promote social issues like mental health and pride for the younger generation. During the Black Lives Matter Movement and other social movements, Tiktok helped spread awareness to the younger generations through a variety of campaigns.
