Sheriff Bell is afraid of the future. This is evident by his constant talk about the past. He talks about how law enforcement has changed with technology and how it can has gotten worse from just breaking up fist fights to someone pulling a gun on him and almost shooting him. He also talks about how law enforcement doesn't benefit from new technology because the same tech gets into the hands of criminals and then they are using the same weapons against each other and its only getting more violent. He talks about the past in most of what he says and almost never mentions the future, indicating that he fears it

They start out as a backstory to his life and what he has done but then the tone changes as he talks about the experiences he had growing up, especially in the army. They all kind of build off of each other, go in chronological order, most of which were about the war and the guilt of all the friends and men he lost.

After finally telling her, he has to have her hide to protect her from his pursuers. While this shows that he is secretive/untrustworthy, he does love her enough to hide her and keep her safe.
"What incidents in the book provoke Llewelyn to make the decisions he does?"
Finding the case of $2 million was a very tempting opportunity that Moss took. In doing so, he is forced to run and send his wife into hiding from Chigurh ; accidently sparked a chain of violence in which he and Carla are killed.

What defines a good man? a good man has morals, he believes in the respect of other people and will do what must be done. When his beliefs are challenged a good man will stand by them and keep his morals for that is all that he himself really owns in this world.
Is Sheriff Bell a good man? i would say yes. Bell cares deeply for the people around him and his has an old school type thinking that helps him keep his own morals. But when he starts doubting himself, about is WW2 unit or about the evil that he has found in Chigurh, his morals are tested and he did his best to challenge them.
Now is he a good Sheriff? A good sheriff will above all keep the peace and will die trying to protect his community and uphold the law. Now based on the book I would not say that Bell is a good Sheriff. Bell let drug dealers run free, and was unable to catch the deadly assasin that had killed many people in his own community. and after all the dust had settled Bell never found the murderer and thus he failed at his job, thus not making him a good sheriff, but this does not affect the question of if he is a good man. a good man would have tried bis hardest to find the killer and stop it no matter what, and Sheriff Bell did that.
