In this position, he functioned as a member of the Judicial Council Task Force for Criminal Justice Collaboration on Mental Health Issues, and as the Vice Chair of the California Center for Judicial Education and Research (CJER) Juvenile Law Education Committee, among other appointments. Prior to assuming his responsibilities as a judge, Paul Seeman served as a court commissioner during which time he developed an effective calendaring system to help coordinate family court and juvenile court activities. He also spent 13 years as a juvenile court referee and nearly 25 years as a Berkeley-based attorney, excelling in areas of criminal and juvenile appeals, as well as trial law. Mr. Seeman studied law at the University of California, Berkeley, earning his juris doctor in 1979.
