I have heard of Djibouti before, but I know very little about it's culture, food, people, government and more. While searching up and learning more about Djibouti I found many beautiful pictures of the nature and the coast. I thought it would be pretty to include and highlight a side of Djibouti that people may not know about.

I picked the UAE and the Burj Khalifa because I used to live in Dubai. I picked this picture because the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. To me, this pictures highlights how Dubai, and the UAE is always trying to me the most glamorous place, or have the most impressive technological advancements, often at the expense of the migrant workers who are the backbone of the country.

I don't know much about Cyprus which is why I chose to look into it for this assignment. After reading about Cyprus, I learned more about its history regarding Turkey and Greece. Through my search, I found that in Cyprus, the "South" refers to the Republic of Cyprus, which is primarily inhabited by Greek Cypriots, while the "North" refers to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, controlled by Turkish Cypriots, following a Turkish invasion in 1974. This picture highlights the split.

Although it is referred to as a sea, the Caspian Sea is the world's largest inland body of water, described as the world's largest lake.

Damascus is the capital in Syria and is also known as one of the oldest capitals in the world. In December, rebel groups took over Damascus and toppled former President Bashar Al Assad's brutal regime. This picture shows the head of Al Assad's statue, on the floor, being dragged by a car. I picked this photo because it highlights a historic change that just occurred in Damascus.

The Blue Mosque is an Ottoman-era historical imperial mosque located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was constructed between 1609 and 1617 during the rule of Ahmed I and currently remains a functioning mosque in Turkey.

The Al-Shaheed Monument, also known as the Martyr's Memorial, is a prominent landmark in Baghdad, Iraq, designed by Iraqi sculptor Ismail Fatah al-Turk and completed in 1983. Built to honor the soldiers who lost their lives during the Iran-Iraq War, the monument features a distinctive split dome, symbolizing sacrifice and remembrance. Located on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, the monument is part of a larger complex that includes a museum and exhibition space dedicated to Iraq’s history and its fallen soldiers.

Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina has a rich culture. One important feature of Mostar is its medieval bridge, Stari Most. Stari Most is a 16th-century Ottoman bridge that crosses the Neretva River. The bridge highlights that Mostar was a place where people of all regions coexisted. I picked this picture because Stari Most is considered one of the most exemplary pieces of Islamic architecture in the Balkans.

Covering approximately 600,000 acres this ancient forest is believed to have existed for over 1,000 years and is considered a significant ecological and economic resource for the country.
