Johnny is a music-loving student at Christ Church Grammar School. In year seven, he was constantly getting good grades and positive remarks from his teachers about the quality and creativity of his work. You may wonder, "Why are my students not doing as well?". Well, I can tell you that the one thing separating your students from success is music; or the lack of it. Johnny, for example, was always allowed to listen to music when working in class and last year he graduated with a 98.75 ATAR. I'm sure, as the educator you are, would want this for your students. Music should be allowed in class because it increases productivity, inspires creativity, and creates a more comfortable culture and environment for students.

Written by CCGS Student,

Jasper H

Stress and anxiety battle students everyday, and being able cope with it can sometimes be a big challenge, listening to music is an easy way to beat it. Students listening to music are quiet, as they won't be able talk to others so teachers will be able to work in peace. Music is also beneficial to the mind, so not only will the students grades go up, but even the class average! This is why I think students should be able to listen to music in class

Written by a CCGS student,
Timothy McMahon

Teachers, are you tired of being asked the same question over and over again? "Mrs/Sir can we listen to music?" Should you...
Absolutely, it has been scientifically proven by Harvard University that non-music helps kids learn. "Non-Verbal music should be allowed to be listened to all school students because it can improve sleep and decrease stress levels"- Dr Smith. According to Christ Church teachers, they are asked around five times a day if their students can listen to music. That's 25 times a week and yearly that's 950 times a year! If the standard for listening to music during class was allowed, an average of 80min would be spared yearly. And aren't teachers already tired of being interrupted during their lessons?

Written by a CCGS Student
Darcy Busch

Because his fellow peers at Christ Church Grammar school fail to show respect and common decency to the child. Christ Church Grammar can not let this continue which is why a new initiative to teach student respect and good values is well overdue. The current "attempts" of Christ Church Grammar to build behaved good men are pathetic. students vandalize the school and are able to get away with it with nothing stopping them. The effects of Bad behavior will not only impact peers at the school but whole communities tainting the schools reputation. For these 3 reasons I am proposing a new initiative to teach students respect and good values.

Music should be allowed in the classroom, for a vast variety of reasons. For example, music as proven by scientific studies, improves mood, memory and focus. Apart from aiding students, you teachers will be greatly benefited with the sound of silence, as I'm sure many of you would agree with me, which permits easy and intensive work for students and teachers alike. Tell me, who doesn't want a productive and proactive classroom environment?

Written by CCGS Student,

Rhiddha Shanthakumar
