Name of the Teacher: Sanjay Tailor

Date: 17th December 2021

Subject: Accounting

Grade: 9

Observer’s Name: Anthea Rodrigues

Title: Accounting

Objectives of the lesson:

1. Cash book.

2. How to prepare a cash book.

WWW:

1. The teacher greeted the students and asked them about how they spent Makar Sankrati. He also asked students if they purchased any items, either physically or online.

2. Probing was very effective as student responses were gathered seamlessly; the teacher smoothly transitioned to the topic of cash book.

3. The slides were appropriate for Grade 9.

4. The in-class activity of preparing a cash book by asking the students to make debit and credit entries was well received, except for the misinterpretation of the colours used for debit and credit, and the idea of representing a person called MONEYLAL was very creative.

4. Real-life connection was established by the final video as to how local kirana stores do not receive cash as most customers prefer online payment portals.

AOI: 1. The teacher spent a lot of time on the discussion of til gud ladoos and Makar Sankranti.

2. The teacher did not use Bloom’s taxonomy verbs to indicate learning objectives (E.g., you could have used Describe cash book and Prepare a cash book.

3. At times, the network was bad, and the students could not hear the teacher speaking. Please keep a back-up connection for future classes.

4. The assignment to prepare a cash book was appropriate, but it would have been more effective if the teacher asked students to record expenses of the current month of January instead of December.

Although I am from a science background, I understood how a cash book is prepared and how to record expenses without inserting any credit notes. Thank you, Sanjay. You are already such a fabulous accounting teacher. I hope you scale more heights in your career. All the best!

WWW : I loved the approach of your class the link your created to the topic even, I love the concept of money lal and the way you explained cash book concept.

EBI : your have an excellent accounting knowledge but your energy was low on that part and also I still believe you could have explained via a journal entry why your pass book and your cash book looks differently when the question was raised it would have taken hardly 5 minutes to explain that as the students were not from the accounts background.
