Teachers have a strict duty of care to students and to provide adequate supervision. This may occur on the playground, on a school sports field, in the classroom, or on an excursion (field trip)...It does not however, negate the personal liability of the teacher.

In my opinion, teacher should have a very limited amount of allowed absence.
