         <description><![CDATA[<div>Mary Anning was born in Lyme Regis UK on May 21st 1799 and she died on March 9th 1847 due to breast cancer. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Anning's education was extremely limited, but she was able to attend a Congregationalist Sunday school, where she learned to read and write. Her family was extremely poor.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; She is known for her discovery of ichthyosaur, plesiosaur, and pterosaur fossils.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In 1800 a lightning bolt struck little Mary Anning when she was 15 months old.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Anders Celsius was a Swedish astronomer who was born on November 27th, 1701.&nbsp;<br>He grew up in a family of astronomers in Uppsala but in rather poor circumstances.&nbsp;He was raised in Sweden and had a pretty high level of education growing up he succeeded very well in math. Anders Celsius is most familiar as the inventor of the temperature scale that bears his name. The Swedish astronomer, however, also is notable as the first person to make a connection between the radiant atmospheric phenomenon known as the aurora borealis, or the northern lights, and the magnetic field of the Earth. He died on April 25th, 1744.<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gregor was born into a poor farming family in <em>Hynčice, Moravia, in what is now the Czech Republic on the 22 of July 1822. Gregor was an Augustinian priest in the Monastery of St. Thomas in Brünn. Gregor was educated he did Gymnasium (grammar school) studies completed in 1840 and he excelled in physics and mathematics, completing his studies in 1843. His claim to fame was discovering the basic principles of heredity and laid the mathematical foundation of the science of genetics. One fun fact was that he went from a monk to a scientist.  </em></div><div><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alfred Wegener was born on the 1st of November, 1880 in Berlin Germany, and Died in 1930 at the age of 50 in Greenland. He was born into an upper-class family, because,&nbsp; in 1886 his family purchased a former manor house near Rheinsberg, which they used as a vacation home and they were able to provide an excellent education for him.&nbsp;Wegener attended school at the Köllnisches Gymnasium on Wallstrasse in Berlin. Wegener studied physics, meteorology, and astronomy in Berlin, Heidelberg, and Innsbruck. He is well known for the continental drift theory which explains that the continents used to be connected and drifted apart over time.</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822, in Dole, France. He passed away on September 28, 1895, in Marnes-la-Coquette. Growing up, Louis was poor. Louis got his Master of Science degree and then acquired an advanced degree in physical sciences. He later earned his doctorate in sciences in 1847. He is best known for inventing the process that bears his name, pasteurization. Louis Pasteur also developed the cholera, anthrax, smallpox, and rabies vaccinations. One fun fact about him is Louis went on to teach chemistry at universities in France. He investigated the bacteria in food and beverages. He also comes from a long line of leather tanners.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp;Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, Shropshire on February 12th, 1809, and died on April 19, 1882.&nbsp;Darwin was the second youngest of six children and his parents were a wealthy society doctor and financier.&nbsp;Charles Darwin's claim to fame was creating the theory of evolution by natural selection.&nbsp;Before He started detailed studies about his theory, Darwin went to medical school. But in 1838, he came up with his theory of natural selection. Although he talked about his ideas with several people, he needed time for more research. Darwin worked in countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and the Galápagos. One interesting fact about him is that He dropped out of medical school because he hated the sight of blood.</div>]]></description>

Their lessons included natural sciences, languages and literature. At the age of 17, Alfred could speak and write in Swedish, Russian, French, English and German. He researched star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the structure of the Milky Way.<br>&nbsp;He was also a <em>popularizer of science on television and radio. Now, he's in NY and is a director at The Rose Center for Earth and Space.&nbsp;</em></div>]]></description>

His father, who died before Isaac was born, was a farmer with no education but he owned property and animals which made him quite a wealthy man.&nbsp;<br>Isaac Newton's education was interrupted by a failed attempt to turn him into a farmer, and he attended the King’s School in Grantham before enrolling at the University of Cambridge’s Trinity College in 1661.&nbsp;<br>He worked in Woolsthorpe Manor, and it was where Newton came up with his greatest breakthroughs in physics and mathematics.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Carl Sagan was born in New&nbsp;York in 1934 on November 9th. Carl went to a regular high school but he was very advanced. The teachers told his parents to go to a private school but they couldn't afford it. He then went to University of Chicago as he was 16 years old. He got a Bachelor's degree in 1955 and then a Master's degree in 1956. He did many things later in life. One of them being a proffesser teaching at Harvard. he also wrote a book, Cosmos, that stayed in the best selling for 70 weeks. Then becoming a series that 500 million people watched. His main interest was astronomy. That's was he wanted his job to be when he was young. He has made some great accomplishments through his life. He died on December 20th in 1996. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Lise Meitner was born in Vienna, Australia on November 7th 1878. He died on October  27th 1968. She grew up relatively wealthy in a cultured family. When she was growing up education was not allowed for women so she did not have any education until at the age of 14 she got a tutor. She ended up attending the university of Vienna and she earned a doctorate. She started to work in Germany but she was Jewish and this was during the time of the holocaust so she was luckily able to flea and sneak out of Germany. She ended up finding work in Stockholm, Sweden where she worked the most at. The place she worked at was called the Nobel Institute for Experimental Physics. Her claim to fame was she helped discover the radioactive element protactinium. She was also the first to describe the term "Nuclear Fission" in a scientific paper. A fun fact about her is that she was the first women physics professor in Germany.</div>]]></description>
