Many of the clips I listened to were adorned with long, flowing melodies punctuated with trills and other decorative notes. Additionally, I noticed a frequent use of drastic changes in volume that added life to the pieces. The tone of most clips is comforting and warm, a feeling maintained throughout the piece. The rich, dynamic tension of the music allows for a dramatic exuberance. - Sage Huddleston

This painting exemplifies many characteristics of Baroque art. The subject matter is an everyday occurrence (like a music lesson in this case), and the viewer's focus is directed towards key places: the pupil, the teacher, and the blanket over the table. Finally, one of the most characteristic parts of Baroque art in this painting is the display of and contrast between shadow and light; in this case the light streaming in from the sun reflects off of different materials and contrasts with the dark tiling on the floor. - Chris
