Answer the following question in a complete sentence:
Think about the story/stories you read. Van Allsburg is know for his odd stories with an unusual twist at the end. What mood does Chris Van Allsburg create for his stories? Furthermore, how does he create that mood or feeling? Is it through his setting, illustrations, dialogue, plot, something else?

Chris changes up the moods in his books. This though had a mood of like, fear and relief. There was a lot of chaotic fear when the ants were in the in toaster, on the faucet, in the man's coffee mug, the ants were terrified. But once they were home the ants were relieved. His illustrations really show what the ants were feeling. You can tell that they're scared, or happy, or relieved, it's honestly a great book.

The boys mood in the beginning of the story was lazy, he wanted to be in the future so that robots can do his work for him. Later that night when he went to sleep he had dreams about him walking up in weird places in the future. His neighbor Rose planting a tree she got on her birthday. Walters birthday was a couple days away and he said "Im not getting some dumb plant." After one of Walters dreams he started taking care of himself more. He did his chores, made himself food, etc. On his birthday he decided to pick himself a gift. He got himself a tree and, he grew it a couple feet away from Roses tree. The same night he had a dream about him in the future next to two bug trees, a man was next to the trees and told him that said his grandmother Rose planted on of these trees. Walter understood that he was next to his and Roses trees, in the future. I think this book has a good happy ending twist that put a smile on my face.

The game has a note taped to it, and the note says that you must finish the game and you can not stop in the middle. They head back home to play it, and on the first roll, Peter rolls a seven. The spot says "Tiger attack. Go back two spaces." After that, a real tiger appears, and throughout the story lots of other animals (and a lost human) appear.

I read the Polar Express and I would rate it 4/5 stars! Here is a summary. It all starts out with a young boy who finds a train coming to pick him up with other kids. Along the way, there is a hot chocolate dance. Once they finally get there, many kids ask Santa for something they want. In the end the main character wants a sleigh bell from one of the reindeer. The book is a great book for young readers and I highly recommend this around the Christmas holiday.

Chris Van Allsburg sets the mood of his story through the dialogue, pictures, setting, and plot. He uses the dialogue to add good description to his story and make you feel calm. His pictures give you a visual of a calm winter night. This causes you to relax and get shocked when he introduces conflicted. The conflict in the story makes you feel for the characters in a way that compels you to root for them. I personally like his stories and would love to read more. The endings in a lot of his books leave you with a possibility to guess your own ending. I really enjoy doing this.

He also sets the mood by shocking you when the conflict comes. The plot advances slowly by getting more exciting each time something goes wrong or right. At the end of the story, Chris Van Allsburg often leaves you on a "cliff hanger" which leaves you to guess you own ending.

The mood of the story that I read was dark and scary in some parts and bright lively in other parts. The way this author writes his books and chooses the mood for each book is very interesting. The way he does things is unique and that helps with the way the book is set. For example, the mood of each story is different almost every time you read one of his books. The mood of The Widow's Broom is effected by the setting. The setting of this book is at the Widows farm and that effects the mood because, the witch landed on her farm and the widow discovered the broom which helped her with all the chores on her farm. The town started to question the broom and finally the town took away her broom for good.

The Polar Express is a funny and mysterious book about the train to the North Pole. The illustrations create a great mode and scene for the story, more than words could say. One more thing that sets the mood is, the dialogue in the book. When the characters talk in the story it makes them come alive. There is lots of detail when it comes too what the character is saying or what he or she is doing.

Jumanji is a wonderful book that puts you on the edge of your seat while reading. The illustrations in the book make you feel like you are actually there sometimes. My favorite part of the story was when Peter rolled the dice and moved his character onto the lion attacks space, a lion actually appeared behind on their piano and chased Peter across the house. I also liked the ending when June's and Peter's parents came back home with their friends but Peter and June saw their kids running in the park with a board game. If you would like to read this book you could probably find it at your local library or you could watch the movies in prime video.

When Peter and Judy find out that there's a lot of animals they get scared but they keep playing. When they keep playing they figure out that they have to roll a 12 they keep playing and eventually Judy rolls a 12. Then the game is over. So the theme is don''t ever give up on something that you have to finish. Chris Van Allsburg sets the mood in the words because it tells you everything that is happening and all the animals that appear in the house.

He creates the mood/feeling by waiting for the next thing to happen. The setting really comes alive by the pictures they have a better feel because they are 3D. When Peter and Judy find the game we all think what's gonna happen next. Right ? The suspense of what could go wrong fills the book. You really don't know what could happen next! I think the odd twist or spark you could say saw in the end when they saw the tow boys carrying the game jumanji game board.

I think the mood of the story goes from sad to sentimental he shows this through more of his words but does give the images a many and they can show how what going on might be going and even in the first problem it shows how the trash piles up really far and easy to figure out that there really is a big count of trash.I love the meaning and the story really shows you how you should go as to be a good person in in the world and not ignore whats going on.

I think the mood for Jumanji is adventurous. In the story two kids find a board game in the middle of the park and take it home. At their house they start to play the game and find out whatever they land on appears in the house. They played the game through and at the end every animal that appeared went away and the house was back to normal. They went on an adventure through the board game so that is why i think the mood is adventurous.

In the book Just a Dream I think the mood is kinda sad because whenever he had all those dreams you got to see what the earth looked like. I had never noticed how bad we were treated are earth until the author put it in that perspective. He made the book very realistic to what is happening in real life. I think the setting is kinda everything it is in the past, present and future. Chris Van include the setting very well in the instillation and dioulge.

He doesn't know why hes on the train for most of the time but when he gets to the north pole he finds out that he needs to get the first present. When he gets the silver bell he gets back on the train and the story shifts to sad. He finds out that there is a hole in his pocket and the bell fell out. he gets the bell from Santa when he gets home on Christmas morning. That's when the story shifts to happy.

The mood was great it was very anxious and surprising at the end. I think he creates this mood and felling by going through his setting he really has a lot of power through his books and it is very surprising and either happy or sad in the end of his books. I think this book was great and very interesting it really made myself jump and suprised and the end. I really liked this book!

I would totally jump into the game if I could (assuming I don't get hurt) and I would probably love the adventure. I would recommend this book to so many people and kids who love fantasy and adventure. I think the theme of Jumanji is be careful. I say this because of the discription of the book and the pictures.

I think the mood of the stories Chris Van Allsburg made are about how what you want isn't always the best choice, and I loved when Peter tried to tell his parents about what happened and they just laughed. I thought he ended the story in a fine way of the two kids running away with the game. I've watched the movie, I have the game and played it, and now I've read the original book! I've also seen the two other movies, and I love the story line. Chris made it to where I can't stop reading/watching. The thing with good books is that you feel a very strong bond with the characters, and feel what they feel. This is definitely one of those books. I recommend this book seventy-four out of five, which is accurate. There are very few books that top Jumanji, and he has a great way of telling the mood. Another book that gets it across better is Just A Dream. It shows it by showing the future, which is what he wants, but ends up not wanting to, and changes his life. He learns to not do anything bad, and plants a tree. He sees it in the future, and everything is OK. I think this was also a very good book and gets a good point across. I think the themes go together, because Just A Dream's mood was patience is key, because he wanted the future, but it ended up bad. Jumanji was patience is key, also because they just needed to wait until their parents arrived.
