If your information is not up-to-date there are many consequences that could occur:

- organisations can be used if they use out of date information and it proves to not be correct.
- Because of the 1988 Data Protection Act, information not kept up to date can lead to prosecution.
-Letters can be sent to customers about a bill which has not been payed & threatening legal action but the customer had paid but it had not been updated on the computer.

Misreading gas or electricity meters resulting in customers being sent bills for thousands of pounds.

This can result in the letter or item getting lost or received late, this is another problem as if address line isn't completed lost bills can rake up and then could end up have to pay more due to lateness of payment or even taken to court. Another example of why complete information is important is that if a report is needed to be written such as a safety check.
