Abiotic
A dipterocarp forest's layers of vegetation can filter most of the sun's light before it reaches the forest floor, preventing the growth of any vegetation below the canopy.
Some young trees may languish in the shade for decades until a fallen tree creates a hole in the canopy.
When this happens, growth commences almost immediately, and the canopy is restored in a matter of years. 

2. Flora
-The genus dipterocarp are well known for its value as a source of timber is valuable as the woods are mostly used in construction as well as being exported or traded with other countries.

3. Fauna A
-The threatened Orangutans at Borneo (Pongo pygmaeus species) are extremely reliant on dipterocarp forests, which provide them with food and a home. Orangutans are "gardeners" of the forest, playing a vital role in seed dispersal in their habitats. Their extremely low reproduction rate makes their population highly vulnerable. Therefore, dipterocarp forest are important not only to animals but also to humans as they need to study more regrading the creature to save them.

4. Fauna B
-The dipterocarp forests are the habitat of the mountain treeshrew (Tupaia montana), the Bornean black-banded squirrel (Callosciurus orestes) including Whitehead's pygmy squirrel (Exilisciurus whiteheadi) and it benefits humans because this habitat portrays the beauty of having a great diversity in terms of animal species.

Although their sheer number and biomass are impressive, these trees also produce fruits, pollen, nectar, and habitat for a diverse range of organisms.

2. The wood is a productive use value as it is a commercial product being sold to other countries.

3. The threatened orangutan species which can be found living in the forest benefits human in terms of educational value which categorise this example as a non-consumptive use-value because human will gain more knowledge from studying them.

4. The great diversity of the order rodent portrays an aesthetic value towards humans which is a non-consumptive use value.
