Why is Teaching Digital Citizenship Important

I think teaching digital citizenship is very important. I think it is important because the internet can be a scary place, especially for children. I think it is important to teach kids what to stay away from and how to act when they are on the internet. It is important to teach kids young that what they do on the internet can have consequences so make sure they act right in the real world and online. Teching them young will hopefully make it stick throughout their lives. I think teachers should always teach digital citizenship to help children stay safe themselves and to make sure they do not hurt other people online.

Before my activity I would teach students about digital citizenship and what it important. Then as an activity I would make note cards that have things that you can do on the internet, good and bad, and have students put them into categories of things that they should do online and things they should not do online.
