TPR planning sheet

TPR stands for total physical response(86). Students act out words and phrases that are being taught by the teacher. The group of students fill out the worksheet and create a short story. I will use this in my classroom to teach verbs and story telling.

Problem-solution peer checklist

The problem-solution checklist help students peer review their work(242). The student will read the other persons work. They fill out the worksheet and help their peer review their essay before during it in. I would use this in classroom to help support my students, hearing from a peer does more than a teacher sometimes. The activity will also help students review their work.

Inductive lesson plan

This can be used on a unit about problem and solution. They will print out or write down notes from the lesson(245). They will find the hook, thesis, cause/effect, and the solution. This gets the students to be engaged and able to be creative. I would use this I my classroom for problem and solution activities.

Word charts

Word charts are used to preach key vocabulary prior to some lessons(276). You could use this at the beginning of a book unit and find vocab words that students might not know which kids more context while reading. I would use this to gauge where my students' vocabulary is.

Graphic organizers are used for a lot of different things. They can be used when you give students new pieces of information(277). I would use this in my classroom when starting a new topic. You can use them on the computer or get a sheet of paper and make one.

A-B-C writing frames

A-B-C writing frame is a tool to use in teaching social studies(289). ABC stands for answer the question. back it up, comment and connect. This will help students to understand the idea of having evidence to back up your work. I would use this in my classroom with social studies units.

Chants and songs

Chants and songs can be taught to introduce vocabulary(352). Students remember songs and chants because they are fun. I would use this in my classroom to teach new vocabulary, I would also use visual aids to help with memory.

small groups

Small groups are good to work with a couple students at a time(352). You can spend that time story telling or working on vocabulary with a smaller group to help the children feel more comfortable. I would use this tool not only to see where students are at but also help them I a smaller group.

visuals and labeling

Visuals and labeling are important while teaching student to read(352). You can have things around your classroom labeled to help your students. You could also do worksheet or charts and have a picture of a chair and the word chair and the student would label it.
