Det er viktig at vurderingene er konstruktive og er til nytte for elevene. Det er stor variasjon på vurderingene elevene mottar. Når elevene får konstruktiv tilbakemelding som er preget av positivitet vil dette i de fleste tilfeller oppmuntre og gi motivasjon for elevene. Vurdering for læring gir en indikasjon til elevene om hvor de ligger så de vet hva de kan jobbe med og hvordan de ligger an på skolen.
