What will you do to ensure that more students (other than those who have leadership roles) have more platforms to perform? Because right now, many programs are for/prioritised for those with leadership roles (e.g. TWC are reserved for CLE reps and CYL dsa)

Just a clarification that TWC is not reserved only for CLE Reps and DSA CYL and it’s open for all interested students to participate. we invite the CLE Reps and DSA CYL to attend as their role as leaders is to collect the opinions of their peers and be part of the process of solution finding to build a positive school community

Nonetheless, there are other opportunities for student like leadership opportunities outside of the slt programme. this includes cca exco, class exco, rs leader,s house helpers and subjects representatives. these are all good opportunities for everyone to be able to contribute in their own different ways.

beyond this, the rest of the students also have an important role to play in making any change possible.

i believe that it is not always about setting up more platforms for students but ensuring that each and every platform set up is beneficial and impactful. for example, for TWC, we could work having more student involvement on a voluntary basis to involve more interested students. however, it is also important for us to realise that more is not always better, but making each platform count!

hence, we should all realise that we all have an important part to play in being the effectors of change in our school and in giving feedback and suggestions on how to further improve some current situations in school.

Hello Anya! What are your biggest strengths and how are they beneficial if you become head prefect?

HELLOOOO!!! i think that one of my biggest strengths is that i am driven. like i have mentioned in my speech, i am super ENTHU!!! i have very high energy and this is my drive that pushes and motivated me to always do what i do. i also believe that this energy allows me to interact and get along well with others which leads to more productive collaborations.

another one is that i am positive and strongly believe that the glass is always half full (and not half empty). this allows me to work well under pressure and not panic which is an important strength to have given that any leadership journey comes with its challenges :))

what are ur concrete plans for inclusiveness in rgs? how will you gather student's feedback abt rgs and what abt this sets you apart from congress?

i think that we all have the common goal of making RGS a better place for students. since congress has a larger focus on hearing the students voice, i believe that pb can work together with congress more to put some of our plans into action in order to make the school a better environment for everyone to be in.

beyond this, i think we can work towards more effective use of existing platforms for feedback collection given by the students. as students, we all have the best and most representative view on certain issues and will be able to give the most constructive feedback and suggestions for improvements to these issues. hence, it is important to make the current existing platforms known to ensure that they can be utilised fully

who is a leader who has inspired you?

a leader who has inspired me is my mum. she is really my biggest inspiration and my number 1 cheerleader!

she has her plate full with many responsibilities including having a full-time job and taking care of 4 children. i cannot even imagine how difficult it must be for her but she always manages to come through. she is always there for me whenever i need help or advice with anything and always has a solution. for that i am extremely gr8ful for literally everything that she has done for me <3333

as a leader,
she inspires me to take charge of my own life and to seize every opportunity presented to me and to find more opportunities instead of waiting for them to appear right in front of me. this has made me more forthcoming and proactive.
furthermore, she has instilled a sense of self confidence in me which i lacked previously. she has taught me to be comfortable in my own skin and to never let anyones thoughts of me change who i am as a person. this is why i was even able to run for head prefect.

as a person, she has always pushed for me to treat everyone with kindness and to accept and appreciate everyone for being who they are and for making my life more flavourful.

i know that this is a very long answer but i meant every single word that i typed and am extremely grateful for my mum, my number 1 inspiration and cheerleader <3

if you were a potato, what type of potato would you be? (question taken from another qna)

OMG this qn is so cuteee!!!
for me i think i would have to be a french fry. technically it's just fried potato so it's still potato. the reason for this is that french fries go with almost anything and like any meal. you can have fish and chips, fast food with fries, steak and fries, just fries on its own and even NUTELLA w fries (pls dont judge me) i just like the sweet and salty combination, but then again i like nutella with literally anything...

because fries can go well with anything, it shows that i am adaptable and will be able to fit well into any situation i am put in. the french fries never change but the overall flavour of the dish does. i believe that i can be a constant in many situations and will be able to be a problem-solver as i will do my best to influence change given challenging circumstances.

BUT... french fries are boring when eaten alone which is why it needs other food to make it more interesting. similarly, alone, i will not be able to do much. but as a collective, i believe that we can influence positive change around the school and be the french fries that taste good with nutella too ;))

what are ur thoughts on the rationale behind prefects being the only lb w a different uniform from the student population

Helloo!! The uniform is actually a school tradition as PB is the oldest leadership board of the school. Its purpose is to mark how prefects are custodians of the school values and culture and are representatives of the leaders of the school. It also ensures that we are easily recognisable. While the prefect uniform is different from the normal school uniform, it doesnt change the fact that we are all still part of RGS together and really should let which uniform we wear differentiate us!
