The quote is talking about hell and describing what is it is kind of, it describes hell like a furnace of wrath so a blazing area where you are under constant pressure of God's own wrath, a wide and bottomless pit, it is everlasting and there is no escape. Edward uses it by putting fear into the listeners ears and giving them an understanding of what it is like to be in hell. The quote relates to the chosen theme because Edwards describes hell as some place that is bottomless and wide, there is no where to go you are stuck there for an eternity and God's wrath is your punishment.

The meaning of this quote is that when in hell you are stuck there forever and feel the wrath of God for an eternity, wrath that would be miserable to feel for a second. Edward uses it to describe how awful it is in hell and what you would be feeling when down there. This relates to the theme Eternal Punishment, because the quote says, "There will be no end to this exquisite horrible misery." This means that you are stuck in hell for an eternity and are being punished by God and his wrath.
