Throughout the 12 units this year I have acknowledged new skills and techniques throughout art and design. I have improved in etching skills, Mono printing photography, linear work and different types of creating things using many different objects and techniques. By far I have enjoyed using linear work. I used a lot of acetate in my final pieces throughout this year. I used a sharpie and acetate to create these linear lines in my projects which I enjoyed a lot as it would create the perfect picture I needed to copy. 

For my project I was looking at women and society today and how society affects women. I looked at themes such as social media, bullying, trends and general things that affect society today. As I decided to go deeper into how society affects women I looked at multiple things such as make up and beauty. I looked at various artists which helped me create my finally pieces. The concept and aim of my piece was to show how much social media has an impact on not just women but everyone in the world nowadays.  I wanted to use lots of beauty themed pages therefore are used magazines to cover the pages as a background. This created more than ideal for me as I do like to create collages. I made collages of makeup and also combined it three buildings in my early research as I do feel as if Society reflects on modern aspects of the world.  

I did lots of observational drawings of my classmates and other people for life drawing for experimentation. I then went to some galleries and spoke to Uni students about their work and this influenced me as I was looking at fashion. I looked at the Brinco shoes. I really liked this piece as it was mixed with fashion and the world. It had the world and weather printed on the shoes.

At first I wasn’t too sure of what I was going to be showing in my FMP but I then asked my peers and tutors for some feedback and they said I should explore more into how makeup makes us feel and look at more artists so I can get inspiration from them. I then chose to make some mono prints of some selfies I took of my friends wearing makeup with them doing different facial expressions. I experimented with different colours such as pink and black. I like the monoprinting technique as I never knew how to do it before but my peers taught me how to. 

I have recorded all my decision making  and critical feedback in a notepad with all notes from my tutors and peers. 

Every week at the beginning of the FMP I would ask for feedback and I would note it down so I know what to improve. This helped progress the changes to my ideas. 

The feedback I received was analytical and helped me improved exactly what to do in my project. 

For my final piece I had created a painting on a canvas painted in dark colours. It was of a woman and around her face, there were words describing her. These were words that woman would hear on a regular basis such as ‘beautiful’ to ‘ugly’. I made these short texts bold in different colours to stand out. To the women I attached fake hair and eyelashes to create the fact that some people do this to fit in with society. 

Looking back into my finally piece, I had got a lot of critical feedback. I was told that I should make my final piece on something I am strong at such as linear drawings on acetate and collages. Therefore I changed my final project. 

I found 3 canvas’ and painted them all white to begin with. I then included the linear drawings with a sharpie onto the acetate to make a bold stand out. I used black to stand out against the white. The drawings were of pictures I took myself of my friends which I then used to draw off. I then cut out some magazines and made interesting shapes with them. 

I believe with the help and critical feedback of my peers made me push harder in final piece to achieve better result. 

The concept and aims of my project was to look at Society today and hows its changed and the youth today. I will be looking at all the things that have been affecting the youth today such as knife crime, social media impacts and bullying. I've researched articles on knife crime and looked deeper into it. My aim is to show a series of research and show it through mixed media.

In the first 12 units of the qualification were full of achievements. I experimented a lot with mixed media and materials. I have acquired a lot of knowledge over last year. I have also learnt knew skills such as knitting and heat pressing. In the project ‘Hooked’ I explored being hooking on food and obesity. I was interested in looking at the outer  curve of the body to show a sense of realism. Before I started this course, 

I enjoyed the gravity project as we looked at sculptural pieces and meanings behind gravity. My favourite part about the gravity project was making my sculpture out of wood designing and carving into it. I then hung it from the ceiling with a clothing hanger and strings for my final piece. I learnt how to combine different materials with different equipment. 

Last year I also produce lots of etchings. I enjoyed it so much I made one for my final piece. The process was long and I had to have a strong steady hand. I made these etchings based on photos I took of london and its different sceneries.

For my Final major Project I have been looking at Society today. I started off with with mind maps and thoughts of what relates to society today and how it affects us. I looked at social media, crimes and gangs. I then decided to go further into Women’s beauty and how it affects us today.

As I was looking at beauty and women, I also looked at body shapes and makeup. I made many colleges and mixed media pieces as I am most strong in this category. I also liked experimenting with acetate and a black sharpie to outline the shapes of the people I took photos off. I also experimented with peoples faces by doing makeup on them.

I made some monoprints using photos of people and selfies they took. 

I also did artist research on artists that related to my theme such as Tracy Emin.
