The sense of feeling comfortable is something that the classroom environment should be. Decorating the walls with many fun, colorful, well-organized displays of knowledge is very important. Organizing safe classroom rules all while implying them in a fun respectful way. Creating a comfortable atmosphere for the children to help them interact with each other and have that sense of longing to be able to grow mentally. Give them that student- teacher relationship is also very important to succeed in school. I think this is a very key component to making kids feel like they are in a safe zone. Words of encouragement and colorful pictures help students engage with the classroom as well as with the instructor. I would also try to build strong teacher-student relationships so that my students feel like they can be themselves and encourage intuitive perspectives and learning. I would lay out some ground rules of zero tolerance for rude comments or malignant judgement towards other students. I hope to achieve this through team building activities and group projects. I will prioritize and emphasize that everyone’s safety is my number one priority

We can also make children clear of what we expect from them, make them aware of the rules, and teaching them in a respectful manner. We also must be fair with all kids, so we can avoid bullying.

You teach the students in your classroom everyone will be respected and they will respect everyone. We need to have rules and manners and be affirmative with what we ask of the children. We must allow them to conversate amongst each other so that they all may feel comfortable around each one, of course there will be a time for that. We must also teach manners along with respect. Our students must always feel safe and comfortable in our classrooms, this will be like their second home for majority of their time will be spent with us. A fun place is a safe place. Before the year starts and continues to go on there must be some ground rules. Safety does not come by wishing it. Safety is established from the very beginning.  For the first two weeks before starting the lesson rules are repeated. For the first five minutes a short discussion will be made to ensure that the students are learning the rules. Why? The rules have to be well understood to become an effective and safe student in the class. To have a safe class every student must do their part and share the responsibility to create it. For example: raise your hands to ask a question or to be excused from the room. If you want to sharpen your pencil first, ask to be permitted to leave your desk. Courtesy…in this class we will practiced. Showing respect to self and one another. “Yes, Sir”, “No sir”, must be expressed in this classroom (pertaining to students and especially teachers and other adults in the room). “Thank you”, “Please” and “Your welcome” will be expressed as need be. No outburst will be allowed (yelling). Keep your hands to yourself. Your name will not be exchanged with any other (No profanity in class). And most of all…Smile and Welcome, this is your classroom.


]]> 2018-08-16 22:03:32 UTC https://padlet.com/sandraledesma1071/ztemxefr1jaz/wish/273610029 Discussion 2- Nadia Arguello nadializ02 https://padlet.com/sandraledesma1071/ztemxefr1jaz/wish/273610066 A couple of times I've been a permanent sub for classrooms, and what I have learned from that is that from the beginning you need to let the students what you expect, and that includes being respectful to others, do their work, let them know theres time for talking but know when to stop, and a big thing is to listen to the students, ask them about their day, make group activities where everyone participates and people who don't really talk to each other will end up getting comfortable and talking. Many students outside of school live a rough life, and we are the only ones who can make a change for them. A couple of times students who are the trouble makers, tell me that they behave in my class because I actually talk to them and help them not like others who just sit behind the desk and yell at them. Many small details can make such a huge difference. A couple of things that I feel can help make kids feel safe in school is to reward students they show kindness and respect to their peers and to all the adults. Another thing would be to find all of the possible hiding spots where bullying might take place because as we know it bullying is everywhere and it is something that needs to be stopped.
