They discovered new water bodies Like the great lakes and the Mississippi river. When exploring in the 1500's, it started new trade routes for Europe, The New World, and Asia. The countries were looking for gold and slaves. I don't think they invaded and enslaved people because they were trying to invade, I think they enslaved people to help get their want of new resources. I also think that they were trying to trade with the natives to get some valued objects not to rip them off and invade them. I feel like they were trying to get used to each other like a dog and a cat. When they saw America, they new that there was a pacific ocean. The Explorers weren't looking for new places to invade, they were trying to find places to explore and concur places, such as the middle passage. When the explorers found the Aztecs, they didn't seem to want to invade the Aztecs.  They were greedy for their gold and land, not to invade and kill them. Not all explorers were greedy for gold and land though. We had many other explorers that went to try to find new land because they were curios.
