This movement started in response to learning the inhumane treatment slaves got. Both white and black people were in this movement.
People like Angelina and Sarah Grimke, both daughters of a slave owner, told the true and hidden evil behind slavery. Some of the most well known people were Frederick Douglass and Sojourner Truth. Frederick was a slave and told his experience to people. Sojourner was also a former slave who was inspired by Douglass to speak out.
