On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, were assassinated on the way to the train station, after the completion of their good will tour. The archduke and heir of the Austria-Hungary empire was headed back to his home when they were shot by Gavrilo Princip, a member of a secret Serbian organization named the "Black Hand." The assassination of the Austria-Hungary heir led to World War 1 due to the following disagreements between Austria-Hungary and Serbia

1929- AMERICA

On October 1929, the Great Depression officially began. This depression lasted till 1939 and caused for the rise of unemployment rates, bank failure, and homelessness. The Great Depression came to be after the crash of the stock market. This is an important event in history because encouraged the fact that it was the governments job to stabilize the economy.

On January 30, 1939, Adolf Hitler was officially titled chancellor of Germany. His rise to power was mostly supported by the Nazi party, a party that was made and led by himself. During his period of German leadership, he has caused over 11 million Jews, Slavs, Blacks, and more to be killed. This is ultimately known as the Holocaust. He also made the decision to invade Poland which led to the British and French declaring war on Germany, which led to the beginning of World War 2. He is a significant person in history due to his involvement in leading the Holocaust and World War 2.

1938- EUROPE

On November 9, 1938 to November 10, 1938 Kristallnacht or, the "Night of Broken Glass" affected thousands of Jewish people. On this night thousands of Jewish homes, businesses, and churches were destroyed. This was also a night of violence and death. 30,000 Jews were taken to concentration camps. This event was a symbolization of the fact that Jews had no power in Germany and prompted a call for change around the world.

1941- AMERICA

On December 7, 1941 the Japanese officially decided to attack Pearl Harbor. It can be said that the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor because they were interested in "building an empire of their own" and further modernizing their economy. This attack took place in Hawaii and led to the death of 68 people. This is a significant event in history because it led to the United States joining WW2.

1945- ASIA

On September 2, 1945 the Japanese decided to surrender which prompted the end of World War 2. This day is known as "V-J day" which stands for "Victory over Japan day." This surrender became official after the signing in USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This is a significant event in history because it signifies the end of World War 2.
