This shows she is humorous because she is able to be funny and sarcastic in both bad and good situations.

3. Independent - not depending on another's authority

I chose this picture because it shows a home that I feel could fit Ellen's old conditions. 1. "When he heard me he stopped still like a bird dog when you blow the silent whistle. " pg 54
- This means that when Ellen's dad heard Ellen yell to him he got very still and quiet suddenly just how a dog react when it hear dog whistle.

2. "I am strong as a ox." pg 47
- Ellen is saying she is very strong physically. This is evidence of a flashback because while she was gardening with Roy and Julia she had a flashback of the past about gardening with her mother. The description of her gardening was vivid and very detailed.
