I feel that this genre is social, as it is a communally accepted method of sharing information. I believe that this genre is rhetorical, as it is accessible to a wide audience of students and faculty who may be interested in the flyer’s contents. It effectively conveys its purpose of sharing information about a dog socialization club. This genre is dynamic, as the technology reflected in the QR code is relatively new. Previously, joining a community may have been facilitated through a sign-up sheet. However, advancements in technology have made it possible to join these kinds of communities through the use of QR codes. As technological advances continue to be made or societal expectations for information sharing change, this genre could continue to evolve. This genre could be historical, as it reflects the pre-existing genre of sign-up sheets as mentioned above. The cultural aspects of this genre include its presentation of information in a means that is culturally accepted. Social – This poster is in a university setting, where students may be interested in the class. It is being used to grow interest in the class, and our potential interest affects whether or not the poster is placed here.

Rhetorical – The noir styling of the poster in combination with its presence among other class posters draws attention to it as an alternative option. 

Dynamic – The poster is a byproduct of noir-style film posters and class advertisements. It is able to combine these two genres (change) to suit its social situation.

Historical – This class poster is derived from billboards, newspaper ads, promotional leaflets, and class catalogs.

Cultural - This poster is found inside of a university building, which has a cultural aspect of looking for student organizations, class options, etc.

Situated - The poster is situated inside a series of buildings where language and writing courses take place. This genre is influenced by the students in its social situation who may be interested in either or both.

-On the Social side, a lot of people living in the city or outside the city, come to the UT Tower to admire it, creating a social spot.

4. Historically, accessibility was not as widespread before or not thought of as much, but many buildings were then updated or now designed for wheelchair access
5. Culturally, this means we as a people have to acknowledge groups of people we may not relate to or learn to be considerate of those with disabilities

The slogan is rhetorical because it’s purpose is to encourage students to identify with campus culture.

In a historical context, the slogan is a rebranding and replacing historical slogans associated with UT such as “what starts here changes the world.”

In a cultural context, the slogan is meant to unite students and create a UT culture.

The slogan is dynamic because it’s plastered all over campus, on websites, in print, in speeches–it can reach many social and rhetorical situations.

4. Painter Hall is historical because of its unfortunate history.  Sweatt vs Painter ruled against an African American student trying to get into the UT Law School. It was a landmark case that led to Brown vs Board of Education. 

5. Cultural: Texas has chosen to acknowledge Painter (the man who denied access to higher education) rather than Sweatt who challenged this notion.
