The water bottle pressure changes in the water bottle it is most likely because the pressure in the air was tight. The pressure most likely came because the hot water inside of the bottle. The steam of the hot water might’ve also made the plastic weaker. The reason why the water bottle imploded was because once we shook the water bottle and dumped out the water, we captured the heat inside the bottle. With the heat and the pressure it had enough strength to crush the water in.
https://www.instructables.com/id/Imploding-a-plastic-bottle/
http://www.abc.net.au/science/surfingscientist/pdf/teachdemo18.pdf
https://van.physics.illinois.edu/qa/listing.php?id=206682&t=imploded-water-bottles

                                   Ada Chang
The air pressure change inside the bottle because of the pressure. This is called, “ implosion.” Implosion means when the air pressure or water vapor decreases the internal pressure enough to cause a catastrophic collapse. Usually, the air pressure inside an open can is the same as the pressure outside. However, in this experiment, the air was driven out of the can and replaced by water vapor. When the water vapor condensed, the pressure inside the can became much less than the air pressure outside. Then the air outside crushed the can.

Websites:

http://scifun.chem.wisc.edu/HomeExpts/COLLAPSE.html

https://www.wired.com/2016/01/make-your-own-tanker-implosion-with-a-soda-can/

The heat of the water is able to burn off the air molecules inside the water bottle and so if air came into the water bottle the air molecules would burn up and form gas. That is what happens when the you let it all out, it pushes the air away and when you close the bottle, there is no air to go in and so it will implode because it has no air inside the bottle. The hot water basically pushes or decreases the air inside the water bottle

1.https://www.wired.com/2016/01/make-your-own-tanker-implosion-with-a-soda-can/

2.https://www.oberk.com/packaging.../plastic-bottle-paneling-5-causes-and-the-cures

3.scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=1447

The first thing that causes that is pressure change. The hot water will suck up the cold molecules so it will be crushed. The second thing that causes that oxygen pressure. It is possible that oxygen in the headspace of the bottle is being absorbed in the bottle’s contents, depending on the nature of the product. Those are the two top main reasons why the air pressure change when you put hot water in the bottle but there is still more.

By; Callie Ho
When hot water in added to a empty plastic bottle it implodes. This happened because the air molecules inside the bottle vibrate and bump against each other. When the molecules are heated it has more energy causing higher pressure.

Websites used:
1. https://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/98856/why-does-a-bottle-shrink-when-you-pour-hot-water-in-it
2.
https://www.instructables.com/id/Imploding-a-plastic-bottle/
3.
https://education.seattlepi.com/occurs-plastic-bottle-cold-air-5102.html

Picture:
