She is the Goddess of rejuvenation and spring. Iduns father was from the dwarf realm and his name was Ivald. She had no children but married Bragi, the God of music and poetry. The death of Idun is unknown as the last time she is seen is within the claws of a falcon shaped Loki as a nut.

A giant by the name of Thiazi got into a fight with the God Loki. Loki wanted to make amends and told Thiazi about a goddess that can restore life. Loki offers to bring Idun to Thiazi if they can stop fighting and have peace. Thiazi agrees and waits for Loki to bring Idun to the forest. She is lured in by the giant and brought to the land of the giants (Jotunheim). He forces Idun to go to Jotunheim to give the golden apples to the giants so they can stay young forever. Meanwhile, the people of Asgard are growing old and it is harder for them to perform their duty as Gods.The Gods hold a meeting and discover Loki was last seen with Idun. They threaten to kill Loki if he does not bring her back. So Loki set off to Jotunheim in the shape of a raven to bring Idun back to Asgard. Before returning with Idun, he dropped her into a forest and she was lost.
