Star lives a troubled life. By being black, she was always teached by her parents how to act while being pulled over by a cop. "Do as they say", "Don't look in their eyes" was the normality while dealing with a cop. Besides that, by her dad being on a gang, she experienced a lot of violence in their life. And, having both of her closed friends being killed in front of her was one of the many things she had learned to handle. Also, being one of the only black people in school may be hard for her, people who werent educated enough can make her life really miserable, while in her neighborhood she is the one who goes to "that fancy white school".

Timeline of the mains events:

Early chapter one: Starr and Kenya are at Big's D Spring break party in gardens heights. Starr fells like she doesnt belong to that party.

Late chapter one: Kenya go get some drinks with some friends and let Starr alone. While she is alone, she founds Khalil, a popular and handsome guy that is also her ex. they two talks ver sometime until a shooting starts in the party between King lords and Disciples. Starr runs away with Khalil

Early chapter two: Khalil and Starrs talks a little bit about Tupac and rappers but they are pulled over by a cop.

Mid chapter two: the cop, one fifteen, pull they two over by a broken tail light. he asks why he's being pulled over and desobey some orders of the cop.

Late chapter two: One fifteen tell they to remaing stay, but khalil moves to check on Starr, breaking the cop order and getting shooted three times by the cop.
