The metaverse is a virtual world where you can do anything you want and be anyone you can be. In the articles we just read about the metaverse, there were many example of Nature vs. Technology. In the Article “Metaverse clothing, travel, plastic surgery: Experts predict life in 2030” it says, Imagine scaling Everest, swimming with hammerheads or skydiving over the Grand Canyon — without ever leaving your living room. This quote is talking about how you can do things in nature without ever leaving you living room. Technology is taking over nature and soon, everyone will be using the metaverse to go to these cool locations with little effort. Technology can also not be as good as nature. While you can find awesome things in nature, the metaverse can be negative for teens. “minors were regularly exposed to graphic sexual content, racist and violent language, bullying and other forms of harassment on VRChat’s platform, which is typically accessed through Meta’s Oculus headsets.” That is some ways that Nature and the Metaverse compare and contrast.

Link to dispatch 2

Animal Testing Essay

First, animal testing is not ethical because it is cruel to animals. According to a Pro and Con source from Britannica, “The US Department of Agriculture reported in Jan. 2020 that research facilities used over 300,000 animals in activities involving pain in just one year.” Animals can not express pain like humans, so the pain can sometimes even kill them. The animals being tested on have nothing wrong with them, so we are ruining their lives, by trying to save our own.“According to Humane Society International, animals used in experiments are commonly subjected to force-feeding, food and water deprivation, the infliction of burns and other wounds to study the healing process, the infliction of pain to study its effects and remedies, and “killing by carbon dioxide asphyxiation, neck-breaking, decapitation, or other means.”(HSI) Scientists that test on animals torture them by forcing them to eat and drink. Also, they purposely hurt the animals to try to get results that could maybe help us. Scientists are even ok with killing the animals for results. People don’t understand that when they test on animals, they are torturing them and sometimes even killing them when the results could mean nothing.

Animal Testing Essay

Propaganda

First, the Nazis used propaganda against the Jews to make Germans believe it was the Jews fault for the problems Germany faced after World War 1. My example of propaganda is an image of a Jew behind the Allied powers flags. The Jew is shown to be planning something against the Axis powers. “Nazi propaganda often portrayed Jews as engaged in a conspiracy to provoke war” What the Nazis meant by this is that the Jews always conspired behind the Allied forces and had intentions to cause war, which was not true. One thing that the Nazis did to get Germans on their side was they prohibited outsider news. “Under the Nazi regime in Germany, it was a crime to listen to the BBC, broadcast from Great Britain, or to read an American newspaper.” They did this so the Germans could not receive any ideas that the Nazis were the ones who were the evil ones. Germany made so many people brain dead from prohibiting outside idas and and making it seem like they had the right ideas. That is how Germany used Propaganda against the Jews to make them look like “the other.”

Propaganda Essay

Dear President Franklin Delano Roosevelt,

My name is Jerry and I am a Japanese American citizen. I am writing this letter from inside the internment camps that you have put so many of us in. I understand that you want to keep America safe, but most of us are Americans with Japanese ancestry. According to Executive Order 9066, because of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, you consider us enemy spies and have reason to believe that we will sabotage the United States National-Defenses. The Secretary of War chose to put us in these camps and you allowed it. Both my wife and I were born in the United States, and yet you still put us in these camps, because of what Japan’s leaders did. The living conditions here are just ok. We have a small room, with a few windows and a fireplace. But at night, it gets really cold and the rain can get through the roof. The balloon bombs were also unrelated to us, as we were stuck here. According to the 14th amendment, if we were born in the United States, we are citizens of the United States, no matter our ancestry. I think it is very important that all United States citizens should have the right to be free and not considered an enemy spy. Just think about how Japan is thinking if you are keeping all of us in camps and you have some Japanese born people that are in these camps.

Signed,

Jerry Schwen

Letter to FDR

Dear Diary,

It’s Mrs Frank here. Today was a very hard day for all of us. We had one of those big family problems. Let’s just say that Mr. Van Daan is one of the most selfish people I know. In the middle of the night, I caught him stealing bread from our food safe. All this time, we thought it was the rats. His excuse was that he was hungry, even though we all are as hungry as him and the children are getting thinner and thinner every day. He is even stealing from his own wife and son. Mrs. Van Daan was ok with it, saying that he is used to eating more. That made me infuriated. I was so mad I wanted to kick them out. Anyway, Miep came by today to tell us maybe the best news of our lives. She told us that the invasion started early this morning from the Americans, British, French, Dutch, Poles, and Norwegians. That really brightened up the mood.

Anne Frank Scrapbook
