Read the quote from p. 115: “Down came the ropes. Down came the balls. Over and over again. Up. Down. All in rhythm. All identical. Like the houses. Like the paths. Like the flowers.” Why does the author use short sentences? What mood do they create?

In the first half of the chapter, Mrs Whatsit warns Charles Wallace to be careful of his pride and arrogance. Based on his actions, has he embraced this advice? Defend why or why not.

Calvin’s strength is his ability to communicate. What does he communicate at the end of the chapter?

(1). The author writes short sentences to tell what things there are that are happening at once ,the mood is wonder full.

(2). Charles Wallace didn't follow Mrs.Whatsit's advice because Charles Wallace always wanted go to a house but Meg didn't want to go.

(3). Calvin had a felling that if they would go in the building they would be in great danger.

1. the author uses short sentences to help the reader comprehend what is happening fully. this creates a scary almost robotic feeling

2. based on his actions charles wallace has not embraced the advice to be careful of his pride and arrogance because he seemed to be very sure of where he was going and that they should knock on the little boys door.

3. calvin's strength is his ability to communicate. in the end of the chapter, calvin states that he is getting a feeling that they should not go into the main building.

1. The author used really short sentences to explain how everything was identical and in the same rhythm. The mood it creates is a very strange mood.
2. Charles Wallace has sort of embraced the advice because he has listened to Calvin, and he started to stop boasting, but he didn't care about going into the Central Intelligence Center.
