There are seven different types of wellness. They are social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, occupational, intellectual, and physical wellness. Three wellnesses that stood out to me the most were environmental, occupational, and intellectual. Environment wellness is when we have to pay attention to our society and what is happening around us. We have to protect our society, "environmental wellness is the ability to recognize our own responsibility for the quality of our air, the water and the land that surrounds us" (Self-Assesmen, 2). We individually have to take care of our community and our world so we can still live and our children can have a clean world to live in as well. The next wellness is occupational. This is where we need to chose a job that we would like to be in so that we can make an impact in our society. We have to thrive at whatever we choose, "personal fulfillment from our jobs or our chosen career fields while still maintaining balance in our lives" (Self-Assessment, 3). Our desire to contribute to our job also contributes to the whole company. The final wellness is intellectual wellness. This is the ability to challenge ourselves in everything that we do. Experiences makes our decisions better, "intellectual wellness is the ability to open our minds to new ideas and experiences that can be applied to personal decisions, interaction and community betterment. The desire to learn new concepts, improve skills and seek challenges to peruse lifelong learning contributes to our intellectual wellness" (Self-Assesment, 2). Our desire to get better at what we do helps increase our intellectual wellness.

My Health

I have bad health practices. I don't eat healthy and I don't exercise as much as I should. I hear that I am healthy from the doctors but I know that if I keep this up then I will have major health problems when I am older. Today I saw the super bowl and we had a whole lot of unhealthy food. I ate sausage and cheese, pizza, buffalo chicken dip, cookies, and some blueberries. This was not a good decision and these next couple of weeks I am going to take care of this by taking more steps and eating less junk food. I know that it is ok to have junk food sometimes but not all the time. I am making small steps towards making healthier decisions. I eat fruit everyday in a big bowl after dinner. I also asked my mom to get a whole bunch of fruit at the store when we are out. I make fruit smoothies for the whole family. I have a fit bit that I check my steps everyday and I set a goal of at least 10,000 steps a day. In the summer, I am going to change that goal to 20,000 steps a day. Small steps can lead to a healthier life and I want to be healthy so that I can teach the people around me my healthy ways.
