In this article the methadone clinics are used by people from all walks of life. I believe that getting rid of or banning these clinics would not be beneficial. Although I don't agree that methadone clinics are the finial answer for addiction, as quoted in the article.

"There is nothing crueler than keeping a person addicted to drugs," said Roques, a former agent with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration. "It's the most pathetic thing in the world."

The people receiving methadone from the clinics should also be receiving drug counseling and other support.

people addicted to heroin. However, this obviously isn't true because it merely keeps withdrawl symptoms at bay. This is important because heroin addicts cannot completely properly function in society. However, with a dose of methadone, they aren't dependent on heroin anymore, and can function normally in society. The argument could be made that now they're dependent on methadone, but lot of people are dependent on a shot or treatment every week to function normally. Nobody persecutes my cousin for getting her allergy shot every Tuesday, so no one should persecute methadone recipients for getting

The methadone clinics are needed but I don't think having more than one in an area is needed

I think that the clinics are good but they can't be the only solution. It's a good way for people to not have to go through withdrawals but there should be a treatment option to get people completely off the drugs. I think this definitely is beneficial to people who are parents and dont want to go through withdrawal and effect their kids.

I think the methadone clinics are a good idea but it makes addicts continue to use drugs because there is a pain killer to go with the drugs. There should be a way to get people to completely stop doing drugs.
