In this extract Stevenson makes the reader sympathetic towards Lanyon by the description of the apperance of Dr Lanyon
We can see this trough the quote " flesh had fallen away " .The noun flesh suggest something rough , stuck and creates a shock impresion in Dr Lanyon physically making the reader feel sympathetic towards him . Alternatively it can show what Mr hyde has cause on him and we can see Dr lanyon as a one more victim of Mr Hyde , further on we see that this appearance physic created in Dr Lanyon is cause by Mr Hyde . This description can also create an image of a decomposing body suggesting the idea of Dr Lanyon being on his last days of life .
Secondly another way that Stevenson uses to make the reader feel sympathetic towards Dr Lanyon is that he seems himself as a " doomed man " . The adjective doomed suggest that he doesn't have hope on himself making the reader feel sorry for him because the last thing you loose is the hope. Alternatively this quotation can have connotations of hell suggesting the idea that after dead is not going to heaven maybe because of his sins or because of what he saw after his dead later on we see that what he saw after his death was the transformation of Dr Jekyll to Mr Hyde , the reader may feel sympathetic towards Lanyon by seen him as an innocent man who deserved more
Lastly another way that stvenson makes the reader feel sympathetic towards Lanyon is that he is asking for " Gods sake stay " to Uttersin as if he was begging him to " sit and talk " but what can make the reader feel sorry for him is that he knows that he is dying but the only thing he wants is to have a good moment next to his " old friend "

The language analysis is good. You must also include context and writer's purpose

A few mistakes in terms of the written English
E.g. You say what Mr Hyde has cause on him instead you should say what Mr Hyde has done to him.
You say appearance physic you should his physical appearance
