Battle of Bull Run Between the Union and Confederates. Led by Brig. Gen. Irvin McDowell(Union) and P. G. T. Beauregard(Conf.). The confederates try to block the Union from advancing to attack the Confederates capital by defending the railroad junction at Manassas. Places during the battle were Bull Run Creek, attacks around Henry Hill, and Flanks from Chinn Ridge. The significance of this event is that sure it wasn’t the first battle of the civil war but it was the first major battle of the civil war, causing both sides to realize the war would not end anytime soon and that there would be many more casualties.
