For our school I think we put a lot of focus on Intellectual Prowess and are always striving to improve test scores because of the current state that we need to improve. We have social emotional learning but there is not a lot of buy-in from teachers and I think that if we had something like the morning meeting that Van Ness does to just reset our students each day before instruction began that maybe we would see some bigger gains.

Our community prioritizes being a top-rated school with high graduation rates and very few behavioral problems. The community expects the school district to receive an A rating each year, so the district focuses on growing the bottom 25%, state exams, and AP/Dual Credit courses.

We teach our students how to do well on a test. We miss out on wayfinding and well-being outcomes.

Currently, our school is working on students' wellness with improving resources like our Wellspace and mental health professionals on staff. However, we have lots of trauma in our community, so I believe we have a long way to go. There is some attempt at wayfinding with a broad selection of electives to meet students' interests, but mostly students don't have a lot of choice about the content they pursue. Intellectual prowess has been the focus for a long time, with the main outcome being students grades and test scores.

We need to have much more focus on Wayfinding so students have choices about what they are learning and are able to pursue their passions.

Our community currently prioritizes student well being through a variety of supports including a wellness center and school climate committe. Looking forward we would like to work on intellectual prowess through understanding, analyzing and applying ideas through cross curricular collaboration.

We have a portrait of a learner where we prioritize respectful collaborators, effective communicators, and knowledgeable problem solvers and creators. These would also be considered growth areas as we could certainly find more ways to authentically integrate those into the learning experiences.

Our school values strong relationships. We have small classes, which makes this easier than in some schools. Our families and community are a priority as well.
