Weed is now legal in the great white north, making it the second country to legalize cannabis, after Uruguay.

“We will soon have a new system in place, one that keeps cannabis out of the hands of our kids and keeps profits out of organized crime,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Residents can order it online and have it shipped through the mail — something still illegal in the U.S.
In the U.S., states with legalized cannabis have a minimum age of 21, while Canada’s minimum age will vary depending on location.

New Jersey is working on a bill to legalize cannabis, but the vote keeps getting pushed back because of disagreements on how much to tax. Currently, weed is legally sold in nine states and D.C., with more likely to follow.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 64 percent of Americans support cannabis legalization.

But while many governments consider their own options for weed, Russia condemned Canada for its actions.

In an official statement, Russia encouraged other countries to keep fighting “the struggle against the global drug evil.”

Canada is the 10th-largest economy in the world, and with its recent legalization of weed, it looks like those in favor of cannabis prohibition may be left high and dry.

Kayla Jardine
Taking From: https://www.yahoo.com/news/yahoo-news-explains-canadas-cannabis-legalization-will-look-like-132040671.html

First legal weed sold in Canada at St. John's shops:

The Caribbean town of Taganga has become a reference of how Colombia should not develop its tourism potential. Every vice under the sun has turned this fishing village into a debauched backpacker’s paradise.

The situation in the once peaceful fishing village of 3,000 has become so bad that disturbing reports of child exploitation and human trafficking are now emerging.
The town hit national headlines after a former Israeli soldier and local hotelier was expelled from the country for allegedly providing drugs and prostitutes to travelers.

Since then, local and regional authorities are trying to retake control over the village that could be a tourism hotspot if it is able to regulate drug use and prostitution.
Before Taganga became flooded with backpackers, it was a quiet fishing village originally inhabited by the indigenous Tairona people.

Initially cut off from the important colonial city of Santa Marta, the picturesque bay was always known and visited by Colombians for a bit of R&R.

Medellin has made massive progress in both public safety and tourism over the past decades. However, as the city slowly becomes a recognizable tourist destination, there are plenty of places a traveler should not wander either for his own safety or to avoid wasting his time.

Some of these places are the stomping grounds of prostitutes and drug addicts; others are where pickpockets and thieves congregate, or the places embroiled in gang-related violence. There are also places that are blatant tourist traps simply not worth the bother.
Colombia Reports determined the no-go areas based on warnings by the Ombudsman and visits to these neighborhoods.

The remaining levels of caution should not be interpreted as a travel warning, but rather an invitation to explore the city with the appropriate caution.

These are the places:
Medellin’s western periphery
Parque Lleras
Parque de las Luces
Parque San Antonio
Pueblito Paisa
Prado
Barrio Trinidad, a.k.a. ‘Barrio Antioquia
Museum of Antioquia

A gunman yelling, “All Jews must die,” stormed a Pittsburgh synagogue during Saturday services, killing 11 worshippers and wounding six other people including four police officers, before he was arrested.

Bowers had made many anti-Semitic posts online, including one early on Saturday. In another, he slammed U.S. President Donald Trump for doing nothing to stop an “infestation” of the United States by Jews.

Jones said Bowers was armed with an assault rifle and three handguns. He said authorities believed the suspect entered the synagogue, murdered the worshippers and was leaving when he encountered a uniformed police officer. The pair exchanged gunfire, Jones said, and Bowers reentered the building before a SWAT team arrived. After a shootout, he surrendered.

Bowers was taken to a hospital where he was listed in fair condition with multiple gunshot wounds. Victims taken to area hospitals included a 61-year-old woman, a 70-year-old man, and a 55-year-old officer. No children were killed, authorities said.

Three police officers were shot and one was injured by shrapnel, authorities said.
