It only requires a drop of body fluid (either blood or urine) and results are displayed on an program that is interfaced with an individuals smartphone ("Science Fiction Inspired Handheld Diagnostic Device"). Each of these metabolites (choline, xanthine, sarcosine, cholestrol) are implicated in one or more critical disease states (Patil et al., 2018). Validity: Results are only mentioned in comparison to other single chip POC systems (Patil et al., 2018). Knowing these lab results quickly could help to expedite care and prevent further damage to vital organs such as heart attack or stroke. It may also facilitate early treatment of prostate cancer. Early detection of cancer can help increase the probability of remission and prevent metastasis.
