self-initiativeness is critical in order to further improve ourselves in terms of achieving our goal of lifelong learning. The ‘want’ factor in needing to learn more about something drives us towards intrinsically being motivated to learn about it.

I can say, in terms of my learning journey, some parts of my needs are met/in progress of being met, but of course there are other parts that need to be focused on and improved.

Knowing oneself is the key to intrinsic motivation, it is a cliché answer yes, but an important cliché. Once someone knows what he wants he will start to try and get it. Even small steps count as trying, and as the number of small steps increase, he/she will gain momentum and feel more confident. So one way we can cultivate Intrinsic motivation is to help people discover themselves

We can cultivate an intrinsic motivation through encouraging mastery. Emphasising on the importance of mastering skills rather than focusing solely on performance outcomes allows us to engage in passionate learning.

Yes. Our needs are met. We have the autonomy to choose our courses and plan our time. Courses are also related to our interests.

View of life

Having a materialistic view of life encourages us to use extrinsic motivators to learn and attain our goals. We will only have intrinsic motivation if we have higher ideals and goals to strive for. This is where being religious and believing in something greater than ourselves can be useful.

Celebrate Progress

Acknowledge and celebrate small achievements along the learning journey. I think recognizing progress will reinforce the sense of accomplishment and it encourages continued motivation.
