A $10 Billion dollar affordable housing bound was nixed from the California ballot unfortunately given to political disagreements that ultimately derailed the efforts. This decision is a huge blow to many low income families who were counting on the projects being developed with that money to find stable and affordable housing. Without it, California deepens the severity of the states housing crisis, leaving many vulnerable families with no solutions.

As Los Angeles works to rebuild itself after devastating wildfires, the city continues to face growing concerns about its housing crisis. Given the immediate situation, the city has decided to focus its rebuilding efforts on single family homes, however this leaves affordable house to be put n the bench and not focused on. This decision ultimately risks making thee housing crisis worse as it might make it harder for low income residents to find housing in the city now more than ever.

Reading the article I found it very interesting how a political disagreement can completely pause critical funding for affordable housing projects, especially made by individuals whose daily life would not be impacted at all. This issue feels very close to home given that I am finically independent and rely on affordable housing to make sure I can continue my academic journey and establish a professional career. Growing up in low income communities with a single mother, I've experienced first hand how vital housing security is for families like mine. All in all this article deepens my interest in affordable housing project and the need for a better system to help people in similar situations.

I found this article very interesting because I am part of a student organization with majority of the members being first generation Latino students who are from Los Angeles and live in low income communities. It's sad to see how the initial efforts for the rebuilding phases can worsen housing affordability even more in the area. If this isn't handled properly, it would lead to more families migrating south to San Diego in search of sustainable housing not found in Los Angeles. This migration would directly affect me and any other residents in low income communities in San Diego already facing housing challenges. This article highlights the urgency of addressing the housing crisis properly especially after the wildfires before the problem grows further and worsens.

I found this article interesting because I grew up in Oceanside, which has a large population of homeless, and spent a lot of time time with my mother at her late night job in downtown, where homeless where very easy to frequent and encounter. This first hand experience helped me understand thee struggle homeless individuals face, especially when they lack the resources or the tools to get back on their feet. Over the years I've made close connections with a few homeless individuals and seen how the system can kick people when they're already down. While homeless people do not bother me personally, but their quality of life does. No one should have to go hungry or sleep in the cold without shelter, especially in a society that often treats inmates better. This article just reminded once again how homelessness isn't just a statistic but a crisis that affects real people who deserve their dignity and our support.

All three articles looked at he housing crisis through different perspectives, however they all share a focus on its impact on low income and vulnerable communities. The Planetizen article exposes how political disagreement can delay and limit affordable housing projects, which feels close to home for me as someone who relies on these solutions. The Bloomberg article shows how rebuilding after the wildfires natural disaster in Los Angeles could worsen the housing crisis, making me think about how all these delays in affordable housing and sustainable living in Los Angeles will push more people to migrant towards cities like San Diego. The Next City articles focuses on homelessness across the U.S., which also touches close to home for me because of my experiences growing up in Oceanside and seeing the struggles and obstacles faced by unhoused individuals firsthand. Together these articles showcase that the housing crisis spans over a magnitude of topic from politics, natural disasters, and systemic challenges, however it also made me realize each area needs a tailored approach because one size will not fit all.
