(20)</p></li><li><p>"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820): Another classic tale, it follows the timid schoolteacher Ichabod Crane and his encounter with the legendary Headless Horseman. This story combines elements of folklore, fantasy, and humor, and it has become a staple of American Halloween lore.
